Jingzhou and Niagara Falls City signed the Memorandum of Understanding for sister-cities relationship establishment

On July 14, the"Signing Ceremony of MOU for Sister-cities Relationship Establishmentbetween Jingzhou City of China and Niagara Falls City of Canada" was heldin Niagara Falls City, Canada. Yang Zhi, secretary of Jingzhou Municipal PartyCommittee and director of Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress, and JimDiodati, mayor of Niagara Falls City, signed an MOU on the sister-citiesrelation establishment between the two cities. The two cities agree to carryout exchange and cooperation on economy, trade, technology, culture, education,sports, health, etc. This is Jingzhou's first MOU with a Canadian city onsister-cities relation establishment.

Niagara Falls City is located on Niagara Peninsula of the west bank of Niagara,Golden Horseshoe, Ontario of Canada, with Niagara Falls of America on the otherside of the river. Thepermanent population of Niagara Falls City is about 80,000, with tourismrelated service industries being the pillar economy. It receives about 12million tourists from all over the world every year. 90% of the famous ice winesof Canada are produced in Niagara Falls City.

The delegation led by Yang Zhi, secretary of Jingzhou Municipal Party Committeeand director of Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress, were warmly received byNiagara Falls City. Jim Diodati, mayor of Niagara Falls City, and Yang Zhi,secretary of Jingzhou Municipal Party Committee and director of Jingzhou MunicipalPeople's Congress, introduced the economic and culture features of the twocities in details respectively. During the communication, both sides deeply felt thatthere are many common factors between the two cities. For example, both arebeautiful cities surrounded by rich fresh water resources, and there are greatpotentials for mutual learning and development on tourism, culture, education,technology, agriculture, etc.

Yang Zhi, secretary of Jingzhou Municipal Party Committee and director of JingzhouMunicipal People's Congress formally offeredhis invitation to Mayor Jim Diodati, expecting to receive a delegation of thegovernment of Niagara Falls City in the near future. During the pleasant communication,both sides believed this will be a milestone for the two cities, expecting aclose communication and mutual visits in multiple aspects and areas, and makingpractical contribution to promoting the relation between the two cities or eventhe two countries.

 Zhan Yusheng, deputy secretary ofJingzhou Municipal Party Committee, Yi Xianliang, deputy secretary of Jingzhou MunicipalGovernment, Peng Xianrong, secretary of CPC Work Committee of Ji'nan EcologicalCultural Tourist Area, Jiao Xinqiang, director of the Municipal Department ofForeign and Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Hu Chenghong, deputy secretary of CPCWork Committee of the Economic and Technological Development Zone, also participatedin the signing ceremony.
