Yang Zhi met Consul General Olivier Guyonvarch of France in Wuhan

On the morning of March 13th, Jingzhou Municipal Party Secretary Yang Zhi, also the director of the Standing Committee of Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress met Consul General Olivier Guyonvarch of France in Wuhan. Both sides had a deep communication on promoting the construction of China-France (Jingzhou)Ecological Demonstration City and exploring the bilateral cooperation in fields of culture, tourism, education, and art.

Yang Zhi welcomed the arrival of Consul General Olivier Guyonvarch. He said that,Jingzhou is the capital city of Chu State in ancient time as well as a famouscity in the Three Kingdoms, and thus it owns a long history and brilliant culture. 2,700 years ago, 20 Kings of Chu State set their capital city in Jingzhou; 1,800 years ago, Wei State, Shu State, and Wu State fought for Jingzhou,since having Jingzhou means getting the world. In recent years, the economic and social development in Jingzhou has welcomed its prime. Last year, the gross domestic product of the whole city was the forth in the whole province. In thefuture, Jingzhou would also build itself into a metropolis covering an urbanarea of 300 square kilometers with a population of 3 million. 24 years ago,Valeo, a French company settled in Jingzhou, which has contributed to the further friendly cooperation between China and France in Jingzhou since. Today,China-France(Jingzhou) Ecological Demonstration City has been steadily promotedand the bilateral cooperation has become much more frequent than before. Hehoped that in the future, both sides would continuously explore the cooperation space, attract more French companies to participate in the urban construction,and fully learn the advanced ideas from France in terms of ecological city construction so as to promote the ecological-oriented and green development inJingzhou.

Consul GeneralOlivier Guyonvarch expressed that, environmental protection had become a topic that France attached much importance to, as well as a major cooperation fieldin the communication processing of China and France in recent years. In 2007,China and France signed the Framework Agreement of China-France City Sustainable Development; and in 2014, both governments signed the Letter of Intent on Building China-France Ecological Demonstration City to set up sustainable city cases via low-carbon and production-city integration development idea. The top leaders of both countries reached a consensus, while the key part requires local government to take detailed measures. Therefore,the Consulate General of France in Wuhan paid much attention to China-France(Jingzhou) Ecological Demonstration City and hoped to play a positive role inpromoting the construction. Moreover, they also hoped to conduct cooperationand exchange with Jingzhou in fields of culture, tourism, education, and art.
