CCTV Program National Treasures Exploring Relics in Jinzhou Again

On October 17, 2013, the CCTV International Channel, National Treasures Program’s staff came to Jingzhou to shoot a special edition on Jingzhou, aiming at promoting the ancient Jingchu Culture, presenting Jingzhou’s image to the world, and facilitating the implementation of the strategy of developing Jingzhou, positioned as the waist of Hubei Province, by cultural progress. This edition of the program will present the special techniques and stories on making Chu silk, lacquered wooden ware and bamboo script, as well as the restoration and protection of relics.

Relic restoration and protection techniques, together with the archaeological discoveries in the site of Gong’an Gate of the ancient city wall in Jingzhou, will be the highlight of this edition. The ancient city wall is the historical site where Guan Yu, Lord Guan, defended the city against enemy in the Three Kingdoms period (220-280 A.D). By explaining the historical background of the relics, the value and charm of China’s national treasures can be fully presented to the world.

This edition will be broadcasted in late 2013, which will draw the world’s eyes to Jingzhou.

National Treasures is daily broadcasted at the prime time in CCTV International Channel. In 2008 and the first half of 2013, there were special editions broadcasted on Jingzhou’s relics and major scenic spots, presenting the city’s profound culture to the audience at home and abroad. The one in 2008 was honored as Hubei’s Top 10 Works for International Promotion.
