On November 30th, the 11th China Agricultural Trade Fair and the 10th Wuhan China Agriculture Expo were kicked off at the Wuhan International Expo Center. A total of 32 groups participated in the event which included over 20,000 agricultural products, including all kinds of agricultural and sideline products such as pollution-free agricultural products, green foods, well-regarded and high-quality agricultural brands, and deep-processed agricultural products and so on.
This reporter found that "Honghu Qingshui" hairy crabs were the hot ticket items at the Hubei Aquatic Products Pavilion. While crabs were still being cooked in the steamer, people were already queuing up for a taste. There was an incessant flow of consumers and traders at the hairy crabs sales counter.
According to Mr. Lin Guoya, the founder of the "Honghu Qingshui" brand and the chairman of the Hubei Minhong Investment Group Co., Ltd, over 700 hairy crabs were sold in under three hours on the morning the trade fair began. He said, "Most of them were local consumers who were attracted by our brand; they took the crabs home to be enjoyed with their families."
The lively scene even attracted a Taiwanese enterprise. Mr. Lin Guoya said that after some comparison, the enterprise eventually placed an order worth 20 million yuan with "Honghu Qingshui".
This reporter was also informed that hairy crabs weighing over 100 grams which would normally cost 30 yuan were being sold for only 10 yuan. Mr. Lin Guoya said, "The lowered price is meant to introduce our local Hubei brand to consumers and traders from far and wide."
According to Mr. Xiao Jiahao, Director of the Jingzhou Fishery Bureau, "Honghu Qingshui" is one of the top three local brands in Jingzhou, and Jingzhou Fishery Bureau plans to take further steps to help "Honghu Qingshui" enhance and expand their brand. In addition to helping the Minhong Group organize "Honghu Qingshui" aquaculture cooperatives, it will also introduce a special breeding standard for "Honghu Qingshui" hairy crabs. The Director said, "all hairy crab breeding households must comply with the standard before they will be allowed to use the 'Honghu Qingshui' brand."
Mr. Xiao Jiahao also told the reporter that in the future, the Jingzhou Municipal Government will actively promote the cooperation between the Minhong Group and the China Freshwater Products Trading Center to set up an aquatic product base, so as to further improve the Minghong Group’s ability to develop their hairy crab breeding base and expand its sales channels.
Recently, the China Freshwater Products Trading Center was successfully established in Jingzhou. In three to five years, it will be China's largest-scale and best-equipped freshwater products market.
