The 14th Hubei Provincial Games are going to be held in Jingzhou next October; which will be the largest and highest-level comprehensive games ever hosted by the city. In order to meet the needs of the upcoming provincial games, a new sports center with Jingzhou Sports Center at its core is currently under construction in Shabei New District, and the existing Jingzhou Olympic Sports Center is also being upgraded.
Jingzhou Sports Center, located in Shabei New District in Jingzhou City, will involve a total investment of 530 million yuan, and will cover an area of 29.6 hectares. Upon completion, it will consist of a main gymnasium, a swimming pool, a comprehensive sports arena, and other outdoor venues.
The gymnasium, swimming pool, and sports arena will be uniquely shaped like “sails” to form the overall thematic design of the sports center, which symbolizes the Jingzhou’s peoples’ desire to "embrace the world and set sail for the future".
Scheduled to be completed in April of next year, the new Jingzhou Sports Center will become a landmark and attraction in Jingzhou as well as a sports themed park featuring a fine environment, and interesting architecture.
