Hubei plans to build 16 intercity railways, forming “One Hour Circle of Transportation” inside the urban agglomeration and “Two Hours Circle of Transportation” among the city clusters. On April 17th, co-organized by Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission and KEOLIS Group, the largest French private transport operator, “Hubei Province Intercity Railway” Theme Forum was held in Wuhan. It is disclosed that according to the Hubei Province Intercity Railways Network Plan and Development Assumption, Hubei plans to build 16 intercity railways with the mileage of 1,813 kilometers.

Based on the strategic planning of Hubei Provincial Urban Development, the intercity railway network will focus on planning the intercity railway inside and among the city clusters like Wuhan Urban Agglomeration, Yichang-Jingzhou-Jingmen Agglomeration, and Xiangyang-Shiyan-Suizhou Agglomeration. The concrete goal of the planning is to meet the resident's business and travel demand among the city clusters, realizing “One Hour Circle of Transportation” inside the urban agglomeration, and “Two Hours Circle of Transportation” among the city clusters. Currently, only Wuhan Urban Circle has planned and constructed the intercity railways, and the planning is still not coming out in the other Jingzhou-Yichang-Jingmen and Xiangyang-Shiyan-Suizhou urban agglomerations.

According to the layout and assumption of intercity railways, Hubei plans to build 16 intercity railways in the future as following: Wuhan-Xiangyang-Shiyan Railway, Tianhe airport-Huangpi Railway , Wuhan-Tianmen Railway, Jingmen-Jingzhou Railway, Tianmen-Jingmen Railway, Yichang-Jingmen Railway, Xianning-Chibi Railway, Yunmeng-Yingcheng Railway, Huangpi-Xinzhou-Huangzhou Railway, Gedian-Jiangxia-Hannan-Hanchuan-Xiaogan Railway, Huangzhou-Luotian-Yingshan-Anqing (Anhui Province) Railway, Wuhan-Qianjiang Railway, Yichang-Jingzhou-Qianjiang Railway, Xiangyang-Jingmen Railway, Chibi-Yueyang (Hunan Province) Railway, Jingzhou-Changde (Hunan Province) Railway.
