Opening ceremony of the 14th sports game of Hubei province

On Oct 8th afternoon, the 14th sports game of Hubei province opened grandly at Olympic Sports Center of Jinzhou city. Li Hongzhong, secretary of provincial party committee, presented the opening ceremony and declared beginning the ceremony. Guo Shenglian, vice-governor, hosted the opening ceremony. Provincial Sports Bureau director Hu Dechun delivered an opening speech, and secretary of municipal party committee Li Xinhua made welcoming speech.


At 3 O'clock PM, Jinzhou city Olympic Sports Center turned on a delightful scene. More than 22，000 seats were fully occupied in this brand new sports center, and on site atmosphere was warm and solemn. At 4 o'clock PM, surrounded by armed soldiers and guardians, the bright five-starred red flag, sacred provincial sports flag and the sports emblem were presented to the field officially.

Later on, the referee representatives for this provincial sports game and athletes representatives from 17 cities and states and 14 large enterprises, institutions and associations entered the field in turn. After the entrance, all stood up and sang the national anthem of the People's Republic of China.

At 16:29 PM, secretary of Hubei provincial party committee Li Hongzhong announced solemnly that ‘the 14th sports game of Hubei province opened ’.
Along with the classic song “Lapping Waves of Honghu Lake”, the artistic performance for this provincial sports game opening ceremony “Pioneering Hubei Province” started officially. This performance lasted for 45 minutes, and it was divided into three chapters as “Beat the drum for battle”, “Chasing waves in Yangtze River”, “Pioneering the trend”. These performances demonstrated the spectacular Chu culture, Three Kingdom culture represented by Kwan kung, and the water culture of Hubei province that possessed thousands of lakes. The performance focus on the expression of the high-spirited atmosphere presented by 58 million Hubei people during the exploitation of Yangtze golden channel, competition for quality enhancement, build up of five Hubei and Jingzhou people’s love towards life and sports. At 17:15 PM, along with the sports game theme song “Starting Line”, five Olympic game champions Xiao Hailiang, Tianjun, Zheng Liyuan, Tian Yuan and Cheng Fei relayed the game torch to the field. And at 17:30 PM, the 6th torch bearer Chen Long, the badminton Olympic champion coming from Jingzhou, finished the last relay and lighted the brazier placed at the field center. At last, in the thunderous song and dance performance “The Rhythm of Jinzhou”, the opening ceremony of the 14th sports game of Hubei province closed successfully.

It is learned that there are all together 62 sports events in this game, and about 20,000 athletes from 31 delegations participated in. And this is the biggest ever scale sports game with most participants in Hubei province. This game will close on Oct 13th at Jingzhou Sports Center.
