On Oct. 15, with 176 days and a voyage of over 31,000 nautical miles which covers 20 countries, two oceans and three continents, the Changchun Warship, Jingzhou Warship and Chaohu Warship, which have created several records in the history of PLA Navy, slowly docked in a navy port of Zhoushan, Zhejiang. It successfully finished every task and returned.
Yesterday morning, warships lined up in a navy port of Zhoushan, Zhejiang with waving flags. At 9:00, three warships slowly docked in the port and thePLA Navy East Sea Fleet held a warm welcoming ceremony for them.
In the hall, the atmosphere was warm and the troops were in gallant array. Military and political leaders including Liu Xunyan, vice political commissar of the PLA Navy, Wang Huayong, political commissar of East Sea Fleet and Cui Yonghui, mayor of Jingzhou city were present at the ceremony.
In the speech, Liu Xunyan extended his congratulation on the completion of the visit task and returning of the officers and soldiers and his regards to them, and expressed the highest respect to cities for their care and support of the navy construction and his gratitude for the understanding and support from the families of officers and soldiers.
Liu Xunyan hoped that all officers and soldiers of the warships should remember the words and advice gave by leaders, and leading by the Party target of building a strong military under the new circumstance, we needed to sum up experience, cherish honors, recreate glorious achievements as the gifts for the 19th CPC National Congress and contribute to the dream realization of a strong China and a strong military.
At the welcoming ceremony, Wang Huayong read out the commendation decision of the PLA Navy and said that we should remember the words and advice of the leaders to be an envoy of friendship. Since the launching of the voyage, the three warships has took 176 days, traveled 31,000 nautical miles through 26 international channels including the Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean and visited over 20 countries of Asia, Africa and Europe. They successfully completed the sacred mission entrusted by the Party and the people and created a record in the navy history with the longest visiting time and the largest number of visiting countries, showing the good image of the PLA Navy, strengthening the exchange and cooperation among navies of different countries, deepening the friendship and mutual trust with visiting countries and opening a new chapter for the PLA Navy going to the dark blue and the world. With heavy rains pouring down and howling wind, it seemed that they were washing away the fatigue accumulated along the voyage and presenting a special ritual for the navy.
During the stay in Ningbo, the delegation led by Mayor Cui Yonghui met with Wang Yonghua, political commissar of East Sea Fleet and both sides exchanged opinions about the deepening of co-construction of military and government, cooperation between army and localities as well as the integration of army and citizen. Wang Yonghua expressed his warm welcome to the Jingzhou delegation and thanked the Jingzhou Municipal Government for its care, concern, and support for the East Sea Fleet and Jingzhou Warship, and he also looked forward to seeing them next time.
Wang Yonghua introduced the glorious history, the fleet construction, strategic position, development layout and responsibilities and missions of the East Sea Fleet. He said that the Fleet was the first navy of PLA, which was established at Taizhou, Jiangsu on April 23, 1949 that was regarded as the founding day of PLA Navy. Now, the national defense and army reform has been fully carried out according to the requirement of the Central Military Commission leading the strategic direction, Theater Commands focusing on combat command, military services centering on its army construction and emphasizing the cultivation of battling skills. He also hoped that his hometown, Jingzhou would have a better development in society and economy and the people there would live a happier life.
Cui Yonghui, on behalf of Jingzhou Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, extended his gratitude for the great support of East Sea Fleet and also introduced the social and economic development situation of Jingzhou in recent years, the five development paths of “taking joint efforts in environmental protection, strengthening the national power and opening up, constructing transport, cultivating major industries and constructing large cities” and the current three major tasks of focusing on the transport construction, tourism development and environmental protection. He said that as the officers and soldiers protecting our country, our responsibility and mission were to construct our hometown into a better place, so as to enable them to focus on their responsibility and mission and win the battles. Jingzhou was a city of culture and tourism as well as a major city for integrated development of army and citizens. As a name card of Jingzhou, Jingzhou Warship played an important role in bringing the culture of Hubei to the people and promoting the image of Jingzhou. Jingzhou would continue supporting the construction of national defense and army and Jingzhou people would always be the backing of Jingzhou Warship.
After the meeting, the two sides sent gifts to each other and expressed their wish for a long lasting friendship and mutual development between East Sea Fleet and Jingzhou. The delegation headed by Cui Yonghui boarded the Jingzhou Warship to meet and send regards of Jingzhou Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government to the officers and soldiers who had finished the voyage visiting task and got an understanding of their life condition in details and visited a destroyer team museum of the East Sea Fleet.
Lu Shouxiong, political commissar of PLAJingzhou Military Region, Chen Bin, secretary-general of Jingzhou Municipal Government, and principals from the Department of Civil Affairs and Shuangyong Department were also present at the above activities.
