He Guangzhong Promotes Jingzhou to Cultural Circles in the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao

From September 8th to 9th, the 14th “Sea of Art - Charm of Jingchu · Affection of the Yangtse River”, an exchange activity of cultural circles from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao in 2018, was held by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Hubei Provincial People's Government in Jingzhou. On the afternoon of the 8th, He Guangzhong, secretaryof the Municipal Party Committee, met with visiting delegations from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao to conduct in-depth discussions on further strengthening cultural exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao.

He Guangzhong expressed his sincere welcome to cultural circles in the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, and introduced the long history and culture of Jingzhou. He said that Jingzhou was born when Yu divided Jiuzhou. Jingzhou is the birthplace of Chu culture and the cultural center of the Three Kingdoms: in 800 years of the history of Chu, 20 generations of Chu kings settled in Jingzhou for 411 years; Jingzhou is mentioned in 72 chapters of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which has 120 chapters in total; and “LiuBei to Be A Bridegroom”, “Guan Yu’s loss of Jingzhou” and many other popular stories all happened here. The profound historical and cultural heritage has created a unique tourism resource for Jingzhou, which has a number of outstanding historical and cultural attractions, such as Jingzhou Ancient City Wall, Jingzhou Museum, Cultural Relics Protection Center and so on, and well-known cultural and educational research bases. He hoped that the guests from Hong Kong and Macao could further understand Jingchu civilization, strengthen cultural exchanges and spread the treasures for the development of Jingzhou culture and art via this activity, thus opening a new chapter in the cultural exchanges and cooperation of Jingzhou, Hong Kong and Macao.

Representatives from Hong Kong and Macao said that the trip to Jingzhou is very rewarding. The rich historical and cultural charm of Jingzhou Ancient City goes into their heart, the understanding of Chinese traditional culture in the cultural circles of HongKong and Macao is increased, and the confidence in the cultural cooperation between China, Hong Kong and Macao is enhanced. They hope to take this event as an opportunity to promote the cultural exchanges between Hong Kong, Macao and the Mainland. At the same time, they welcome people from all walks of life in Jingzhou to visit and guide in Hong Kong and Macao. During their stay in Jingzhou, the delegation also visited the Jingzhou Museum, Binyang Tower in Jingzhou Ancient City and Jingchu Non-legacy Heritage Institute.

Duan Changlin, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee,Yuan Defang, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, and Sun Yuqiu, deputy mayor attended the activity.
