Updated: 2018-09-24 21:21:03

On September 16, the “Traditional Craft Competition” of the 5th China Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo was held in Jinan City, Shandong Province. There were 233 inheritors and practitioners of traditional crafts in China, and only two of them were finalists in the Han embroidery field. Among them, there was Liao Lingli, a practitioner of Han Embroidery from Jingzhou. She set off for Jinan on the morning of September 15.

On the morning of the 15th, accompanied by Zhang Xiansong, a master of Han Embroidery, and the staff of the City Mass Art Gallery, Liao Lingli boarded the train to Jinan.

This time, Liao Lingli brought a total of three Han embroidery works to Jinan, which are color thread padding embroidered “Long Teng Sheng Shi”, “Yu Huo ChongSheng” and “Qi Lin Tu Shu”. These three works took a total of two years to embroider.

These three works show the color thread padding embroider and other unique stitches of Han embroidery in Jingzhou to the national audience, displaying the vivid dragon, phoenix, unicorn, other traditional patterns and characteristics of Han embroidery. Liao Lingli embroidered a Han embroidery peony at the scene of the competition, which shows the characteristics of Jingzhou Han embroidery such as vivid images, bright colors, simplicity and kindness, standardized production, unique stitches and so on together with other three works.

It is understood that Liao Lingli took Zhang Xiansong, master of Jingzhou Han embroidery and intangible cultural heritage bearer of Han embroidery, as her teacher in September 2015. In the past three years, Liao Lingli has grown from a beginner of Han embroidery to a finalist of the national competition, marking the orderly inheritance of Jingzhou Han embroidery.

It is known that Sha City is the birth place of Han embroidery, and Han embroidery was awarded the national intangible cultural heritage project in 2008. Zhang Xiansong also accompanied Liao Lingli to the competition in Jinan to cheer her up.
