The annual list selection of China National Travel in 2018 has been launched. Two cities of Hubei Province have been selected. Jingzhou has been selected into the candidate list of the “Best Cultural Tourism Destination of China National Travel in 2018”.

This activity was hosted by China National Travel, which is the only state-level tourism periodical that is guided by China National Tourism Administration and administered by Chinese Academy of Sciences. Shenlongjia and Jingzhou of Hubei Province are selected into the candidate list. Shenlongjia is selected into the list of “BestEcological Tourism Destination” while Jingzhou is selected into the list of “Best Cultural Tourism Destination”. Other eight cities including Xi’an of Shaanxi, Qufu of Shandong, and Luoyang of Henan will compete with Jingzhou. It is known that, the annual list selection of China National Travel in 2018 will perform the way of popular votes (50%), data from third-party institutions (25%), and expert review (25%) to select the final awards.

Located at the middle reaches of Yangtze River, Jingzhou is known as the “state of culture and a land of abundance”. It is a riverside city combining ancient culture and modern civilization. “Capital ofChu State and Famous City of the Three Kingdoms” is the important name card of Jingzhou. “Yu divides the country into nine states and that is the start of Jingzhou”. During the period of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States, 20 generations of King Chu set up their capital city here for 411 years, which contributes to the Chu Culture that can rival the athenian culture in ancient Greece and later, 14 kings set up their capital here as well and it cultivated more than 130 prime ministers in feudal China. Thus, it is so called as the “Capital of Kings” and “City of Prime Ministers”. For the ten years that Guan-gongguarded Jingzhou, his spirit of “loyalty, righteousness, benevolence, and braveness” shall live forever and thus, he has become the “battle saint” and “the god of wealth” worshipped by Chinese people. The ancient Jingzhou wall which started to be built in the three kingdoms period is reputed as the “rare perfect relics in southern China”.
