In 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized at the Central Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Development that, “Chinanever lacks compassion and power of poverty alleviation, but is in short of efficient and creditable platforms and participation channels.” In order to respond to this call, “Social Participation in Poverty Alleviation and Development of China” website was emerged at the right time in 2016 and opened up new channels for social forces to participate in poverty alleviation. Currently, Jingzhou has spared no efforts in promoting this website to guide more social powers to facilitate thepoverty alleviation.
At Yinxiangcheng Village of MashanTown in Jingzhou District, village cadres and volunteers from “Social Participation in Poverty Alleviation andDevelopment of China” wereexplaining the instructions for use of the website for impoverished individualsin the village. After they downloaded the APP of “Social Participation in Poverty Alleviation andDevelopment of China” by phone,took photos and fill in their own information, they can publish their demands onthe APP once approved by poverty alleviation cadres.
There are 95 recorded poverty-strickenfamilies in Yinxiangcheng Village. Deng Haifeng, 39-year-old, is among thesepoor individuals. His father is suffering from inherent disabilities while hismother is with retardation. Despite of his diligence and hard work, he is stillstruggling in and under heavy life burdens. Since the targeted povertyalleviation work was launched, the village and poverty alleviation work grouphas targeted their poverty alleviation efforts at De Haifeng and his family byhelping him to breed crayfishes. Little by little, his situation has beenimproved. However, there is one thing Deng has never told the povertyalleviation work group or the village committee.
This is a long-cherished wish ofDeng Haifeng. However, recently, he released his demands on the website. Unexpectedly,just in a few days, he got the desired water heater of his dream.
By now, 95 poor families in thevillage have all completed their registration at the website, while more than100 kind-hearted people completed theirs and fulfilled the wishes of over 20 householdsin need.
As of October 2018, the accumulativetotal of registered users of the website had amounted to 518,644. Among them,323,137 are compassionate voluteers while 193,092 poor persons released 10,813items of demand information, in which 8,261 demands had been matched successfully.The “kind-heartchannel” set up bythe website effectively offer compassionate individuals and companies an easyway to help poor people, and practically solve their problems in terms of goodsand materials, education, medical treatment, and house repairing.
