Jingzhou fishcake is not only the first dish on banquets in Jingzhou, but also contains uniquefolk culture. However, due to the lack of recognition and guidance, theJingzhou fish cake industry has experienced a slow development despite its longhistory. At the two congresses at the beginning of this year, Zhao Hengyan,member of the CPPCC National Committee and deputy director of the JingzhouFisheries Bureau, put forward the Proposalon Promoting the Development of Jingzhou Fish Cake Industry to promote theJingzhou fish cake industry.

Jingzhou is the topcity of freshwater fisheries in China. It produces 1.1 million ton offreshwater fish annually. Fishery has become the pillar industry of Jingzhouagriculture. Jingzhou Fish Cake is an intangible cultural heritage and a NationalGeographical Indications Protection Product in Hubei Province. The brand buildingof “Jingzhou Fish Cake” is in line with the development of modern ecologicalfishery. It plays an important role in the strategy of rural revitalization,transformation and upgrading of fishery, and quality development in Jingzhou.Due to lack of guidance, the Jingzhou fish cake industry is developing at aslow pace. Up to now, there are no more than 10 fish cake processingenterprises in our city, without a leading benchmark enterprise. The fish cakeworkshops for processing and production are widespread in Jingzhou, and productsare mainly sold in the local marketplace with unregulated pricing andinconsistent quality, which has hampered the development of the Jingzhou fishcake industry.

In order todevelop and expand the Jingzhou fish cake industry, the city has establishedthe Jingzhou Fish Cake Processing Industry Association, registered the“Jingzhou Fish Cake” trademark, designed the logo of “Jingzhou Fish Cake”, andformulated Jingzhou Fish Cake BrandManagement Measures.

At the sametime, through the "Internet+" and a series of business, culture, andtourism activities, Jingzhou fish cake was promoted in Fuzhou, Beijing andother places.

Under the supportof the Municipal Fisheries Bureau and the Jingzhou Fish Cake IndustryAssociation, two new standardized and specialized Jingzhou Fish Cake productionbases have been set up. Rongzi Fish Cake has built a new 4,000-square-meterprocessing plant in Jingzhou High-tech Zone. Songzi Zaoyu Renjia Food Co., Ltd.has built a 3,000-square-meter standardized fish cake production base in Weishui,Songzi. They have laid a solid foundation for improving the quality of Jingzhou Fish Cake products.
