Key Project Tracking: Track Paving at Jingzhou East Railway Station & to Be Opened Next Year

Six years ago, Jingzhou Railway Station of Wuhan-Yichang High-speed Railway was officially opened, which brought great changes to the citizens' travel and also accelerated the pace of development in Jingzhou. Nowadays, with the construction of the Inner Mongolia-JiangxiRailway, Jingzhou East Railway Station has become another passenger and cargorailway station. What is its current construction progress?

At the construction site of the JingzhouEast Station of the Inner Mongolia-Jiangxi Railway in the Nanqiao Branch Farm of Cenhe Farm in Jingzhou Development Zone, the reporter saw that the workers werepaving rails. The bridges were laid to facilitate the transportation ofprefabricated beams and sleepers by trains.

Since the construction and paving work ofthe railway section from (Jingmen) Hougang Station to Jingzhou East Stationfrom September this year, the Paving Team I of China Railway 11thBureau Group Third Engineering has strictly complied with the constructionplan, reasonably controlled the construction period, successfully completed theerection and construction tasks of supper major bridges across the Changhu Lake,the Wuhan-Yichang High-speed Railway and Chihu Canal under complex weatherconditions. The construction has been completed safely and efficiently, with a totalnumber of 363 holes of bridges and 16.7 kilometer-long roadbed track. JingzhouEast Railway Station is an important station in this section and the laststation in the planned route.

As one of the key projects of theJingzhou section of the Inner Mongolia-Jiangxi Railway, Jingzhou East Station,with a total investment of RMB 270 million, is the second large-scale passengerand cargo station built in Jingzhou. It covers an area of 300 mu with 7-meter-high station base and 1.5million square meters of earth and stone to be filled in.

The total length of the platform ofJingzhou East Railway Station is about 1,050 meters. The station building islocated on the right side of the railway. There are five lines of tracks, two linesof tracks reserved and one through-type freight yard. The InnerMongolia-Jiangxi Railway is a national first-class heavy-duty railway. Fivestations, i.e. Jingzhou East Station, Jiangling Station, Gong’an Station, OuchiStation and Shishou Station, will be built in the Jingzhou section. Among them,Jingzhou East Railway Station is the largest and the fastest growing one.

The Jingzhou section of the InnerMongolia-Jiangxi Railway is divided into two sections, namely, the northsection and the south section. The length of the north section is 36.82kilometers. From north to south, it passes through Shashi District, DevelopmentZone, Jiangbei Farm and Jiangling County. The starting point is GuanyindangTown in Shashi District and the southern end is connected with the YangtzeRiver Bridge of Inner Mongolia-Jiangxi Railway, which is used as both highwayand railway. According to the person in charge on site, the Jingzhou section ofInner Mongolia-Jiangxi Railway has completed 95% of the total project atpresent.

Inner Mongolia-Jiangxi Railway is thelongest coal transportation line in China - the coal transportation railway fromWest Inner Mongolia to Central China. It starts from Haolebaoji Station, InnerMongolia to Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province. As per the previous plan, the sectionfrom Jingzhou to Yueyang will be the first to open. By then, the high-speedrailway is expected to start. The Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu Railway has opened theconnection between Jingzhou and Wuhan, Yichang, Chongqing, Shanghai, etc. inthe east-west direction, while Inner Mongolia-Jiangxi Railway has opened theconnection between Jingzhou and Xiangyang, Yueyang, Yan’an and other cities inthe north-south direction. The impact on Jingzhou transport network is equallysignificant.
