In the morning of December 18, the conference celebrating the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, reviewing the glorious course of reform and opening up for 40 years, summarizing the valuable experiences of reform andopening up profoundly, and commending those who have made outstandingcontributions to reform and opening up. The 40th anniversaryof reform and opening-up celebrating conference began at10:00 a.m.The builders of Jingzhou Yangtze River Combined Bridge on Menghua Railwaylistened to the live broadcast of the conference, in which General Secretary Xi Jinpingpointed out that China's infrastructure construction has achieved remarkableresults with unimpeded information transfer, all-connectedroads,densely covered railways, upright high dams, west-east natural gastransmission, south-to-north water diversion, high-speed railway, huge shipsailing, planes soaring, and a deep chasm turned into a thoroughfare. This has made the bridge buildersso proud.

At Yangtze University, teachers andstudents watched the conference celebrating the 40th anniversary of reform andopening up. In Hui Gong Community,Chongwen Street, Shashi District, residents listened carefully to GeneralSecretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the conference celebrating the 40thanniversary of reform and opening up, recalling the past and contemplating thepresent, the old residents in Shashi District were deeply touched.

In this museum that residents set upon their own, there are old objects from the 1980s and 1990s, all of which weremade in Shashi, such as Yuanyang bed sheets, Jingjiang thermal bottles, Huoli 28 washing powder,and Forever bicycles, which were well-known throughout the country at thebeginning of the reform and opening up and were hard to buy. This also witnessed the rapid development of local economysince the reform and opening up.
