In the afternoonof December 24th, Jingzhou “Intangible Cultural Heritage” LocalOpera Performance was officially opened at Jingzhou Art Theatre. Excellentlocal operas such as Han Opera, Jinghe Opera, and Flower Drum Opera were wellperformed, which gave a wonderful cultural feast to Jingzhou audiences.
At 2 PM, theperformance was kicked off with the new historical Han Opera, Imitation (disguising as others under afalse cloak). Splendid props and antique costume at once brought audients’ mindback to the State of Chu, a thousand years ago.
The nextperformance was the traditional Jinghe Opera, Lady General Mu Takes Command. It tells the story that YangZongbao asks Mu Guiying for dragon wood. Unexpectedly, no traces show that thetwo performers are over seventy only by seeing their performance of acting “MuGuiying” and “Yang Zongbao” on the stage.
A lot of performers were senior artistswith rich experience. Li Shuzhen, acting Emperor Guangxu in the traditional HanOpera, Emperor Guangxu and His ImperialConcubine Zhen, is 71 years old. He is a national first-class actor. Thisopera has been performed six timeswithin six months, receiving critical acclaim from the audiences.
Nearly ten operas were performed on thestage. Audiences’ applause was long and loud. Audiences were all immersed inthe cultural charm of local operas.
