The retail sales of consumer goods have increased by 182 times, the total export has reached 1.218 billion USD, and the number of export enterprises has hit 195. In the past 40 years of reform and opening-up, domestic trade in Jingzhou has beenbooming rapidly, with the means of communications making continuous innovations. The foreign economy has yielded fruitful results, with foreign trade growing rapidly. Today, let’s use figures to reveal the great achievements made in domestic and international trade in Jingzhou. 

In 1978, total retails of consumer goods in Jingzhou stood at 639 million RMB, which rose 182 times in 2017 to 116.857 billion RMB, with annual growth rate at 14.3%. 

Over the past four decades of reform and opening-up, great changes have occurred to distribution of consumer goods in Jingzhou. The individual and private economy expands rapidly, with business forms making constant innovations. Marketing methods have also undergone fundamental changes,  and a large number of department stores, shopping centers, warehouse stores, fair price shopping mall, franchised stores, convenientstores, fast-food restaurants, supermarkets and e-commerce came into being, which increased marketing level unprecedentedly. 

During the past four decades, foreign trade in Jingzhou continues to rise rapidly. Before 1988, foreign trade in Jingzhou was dominated by export purchase. In July 1988, Shashi Import & Export Company started to operate on its own, realizing 370,000 USD export volume in that year. By the end of 1998, 68 companies in the city had started to export goods on their own, forming a pattern of foreign exchange earning through export of self-employed enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises and foreign trade import and export companies. 

In 2017, the export volume in Jingzhou amounted to 1.218 billion USD. 195 companies made export volume within two years. Made in Jingzhou products has been more and more widely recognized. Jingzhou companies have made presence in overseas markets such as Europe, America andAsia. The city has been steadily expanded its circle of foreign trade partners. 

The foreign investments started with scratch. In 2017, 29.78 million US dollars of foreign investment was actually utilized, and foreign-invested enterprises played an important role in promoting the economic development of Jingzhou.
