Since Jingzhou started toimplement the strategy of "prospering the city by industry" in 2003, equipmentmanufacturing has grown into one of Jingzhou's six pillar industries. To speedup the equipment manufacturing of Jingzhou, the Jingzhou Municipal Committee ofthe Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party submitted a proposal titled Focusing on Equipment ManufacturingDevelopment, Speeding up Industrial Transformation and Upgrading, drawinggreat attention from the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and the Jingzhou MunicipalPeople's Government. The proposal calls for efforts to advance equipmentmanufacturing transformation and upgrading.

After years of development,Jingzhou's equipment manufacturers have formed an automotive parts industrybelt extending from downtown Jingzhou to Gong'an and Shishou along the YangtzeRiver, as well as two manufacturing sectors: Jingzhou District's petroleummachinery manufacturing and Honghu's petrochemical equipment.

Aiming at the existing problemsof Jingzhou's equipment manufacturing, such as small overall industrial scaleand low industrial level, high proportion of rough machining and deficiency in openingto the outside world, the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government has releasedthe implementation opinion on speeding up driving force conversion, the workplan for cultivating 100 leading enterprises in industrial segments, and thework plan for promoting the stable growth, transformation and high-quality developmentof the industrial economy, to create favorable policy environment for equipmentmanufacturing development. In 2017, downtown Jingzhou completed a totalinvestment of 46 million yuan in industrial transformation and upgrading, and30 percent was invested in automotive parts manufacturers.

Equipment manufacturing is animportant pillar industry of Jingzhou. Jingzhou should not only speed up thetransformation and upgrading of its existing superior industries and enhanceits competitiveness, but also keep cultivating new growth points of industrialsegments as new supporting points for the future.

Besides, Jingzhou will advance theclustered, intensive and agglomerative development of the automotive parts industry,accomplish the mutual promotion and supplementation of clusters in all sizes,and support Henglong and other key enterprises in achieving an output value of10 billion yuan.
