It’sreported that the Spring Festival Lantern Show this year is of grand scale withthe theme of "telling stories on Jingzhou, inheriting Jingchu culture andenjoying a happy and peaceful new year". All together more than 80 groupsof large-scale creative lanterns integrating traditional and technologicalelements are divided into six blocks based on different themes, includingFestival in Prosperous Era, Cherish Dreams in Jingzhou, Cultural Jiangling,Fashion Light and Shadow, Happy Childhood and Dazzling light … All the lanternsare various in shapes with great magnificence. When the tourists are walkingamong them, they often indulge in the unique charm of lantern arts.
In themorning, the reporter saw that all the lanterns had been completed and theinstallation was being conducted in the Guangongyi Park. Many lantern groupsare full of Jingzhou elements, which perfectly display the Jingchu culture, thefamous city of Three Kingdoms and four decades of great changes since thereform and opening-up in Jingzhou.For instance,the "Chufengmen" lantern group combines the thousand-year-old historyof Phoenix culture and totem stories in Jingzhou to show the essence of the Chuculture. “Poetic Jiangling” lantern group displays the poetic scroll ofJingzhou with novel composition, graceful colors and elegant connotation.“Splendid Jingzhou” lantern group vividly represents the rapid development ofJingzhou's urban construction with a sense of the times. Apart from the lanternshow, there are also different areas in the park for New Year Fair, specialdelicacies, parent-child games, folk performances, cultural and creativeproduct show and fantasy recreation facilities.The Face-changingof Sichuan Opera and the Chongqing Tongliang Fire Dragon, the intangiblecultural heritage, will also be staged.
It isreported that the lantern show will last for 44 days till March 10. It starts from6:00 to 10:30 every night with phased prices. The ticket price before theSpring Festival (January 26 - February 3) is 50 yuan/person and after theSpring Festival (February 4 - March 10), the ticket price will be 60yuan/person. Children lower than 1.2 meters are free to the park but need to beaccompanied by adult. Military personnel, fire officers and soldiers and the disabledare also free to the park with relevant certificates. Senior citizens over 70years old will enjoy discount ticket price. In addition, the citizens holdingthe Jingzhou Tourism Card can enter the park for free in the first three days.
