Jingzhou Received 2.2963 Million Tourists, Making 770 Million RMB Tourism Revenues in Spring Festival Period

During the Spring Festival, Jingzhou had both cold and warm weather. The major scenicareas in the city witnessed steady growth in the number of tourists and tourism revenues. Also during the Spring Festival, no tourism accident was recorded inthe city, meaning the tourism market realized the goal of orderly development,zero complaint, safety and no major accident. 

During theSpring Festival, Jingzhou city received 2.2963 million tourists, rising by 36%YoY, and made 770 million RMB tourism revenues, rising by 31% YoY. The sevenmajor scenic areas in Jingzhou (Jingzhou Ancient Town Historical & CulturalTour Area, Honghu Lake Yuexi Peninsula Holiday Zone, Songzi Weishui River Tour& Sightseeing Area, Jingzhou Museum, King Chu Carriage Battle Array, JiulaoFairy Capital, and Guan Gong Park) received 417,800 tourists and made 41.5515million RMB, rising by 39% YoY. 

During theSpring Festival, the diverse folk-customs cultural activities were held, e.g.,folk customs cruise performance, opera, temple fair, pray for blessings,lantern fair and exhibition of calligraphy and painting, etc. The entrances toJingzhou Ancient Town had the Spring Festival couplets to celebrate the ChineseNew Year, revealing the profound cultural foundation in the city. The Guan GongPark Scenic Area held the 2019 Lantern Show and Fortune God Temple Fair. Anumber of grand and magnificent lantern units, such as Dragons of Brilliance,Ancient Capital of Chu Kingdom & Famous City in Three Kingdoms Period,Phoenixes in Jingzhou, and Co-build the Chinese Dream, etc., perfectlypresented the Jing & Chu culture, Three Kingdoms culture and changes ofJingzhou over the past four decades since the reform and opening-up policy wasadopted in China. In addition to visiting the lantern show, the citizens couldalso choose to visit the temple fair, purchase goods for the Chinese New Year,taste delicious food, enjoy the Face Changes in Sichuan Opera, Chong Qing intangiblecultural heritage program Tongliang Fire Dragon, and experience the variousfolk-customs activities. The counties and districts in Jingzhou conducted thefolk-customs activities in various forms for the Spring Festival, thus buildingthe dense atmosphere of festivity.  

The major scenicareas in Jingzhou launched tourism products with rich cultural characteristicsof Jing & Chu. During the Spring Festival, Jingzhou Museum launched theParent & Kid Winter Camp entitled Seek Treasure in the Museum, SpringFestival Celebration in Museum, Incoming Breeze - Fan Calligraphy and PaintingExhibition in Jiaxing Museum, Hand in Hand Spring Festival Celebration -Shanghai Team Visiting Chu Kingdom and other cultural activities, so as toenrich the people’s life and help them celebrate the Chinese New Year in themuseum. The King Chu Carriage Battle Array conducted various activities such ascouplet writing, window paper-cutting, pray for blessings, and fog-spray showto create the fairy world scene, etc. The Jiulao Fairy Scenic Area launched theHuge Cartoon Snowfall Amusement Park. Combining the Chu culture and ThreeKingdoms culture, it attracted many tourists. During the Spring Festival,Jingzhou Xiaomeisha Aquarium launched the Water Show performance. The originalAquatic Life Gala Party helped the tourists celebrate the Chinese New Year in theblue-blue environment. 

At the sametime, Jingzhou organized the rural tour activities themed “enjoy rural food& life”. The rural reception venues were crowded with tourists. Tourismdepartments were active to use the official website, WeChat, Weibo and othernew media to release the weather, traffic, tourist flow, activities and otherinformation in the interest of tourists, so as to guide the tourists in theproper way. Also during the Spring Festival, more vehicles with license platesfrom other regions beyond Jingzhou were seen in the Eastern Entrance to AncientTown scenic area, Guan Gong Park, King Chu Carriage Batter Array, SongziWeishui River, etc. People drove their own vehicles to visit their relatives,made tours or spent holidays in Jingzhou, most of whom came from Beijing,Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing and peripheral cities in the province. Theystimulated the booming business in hotels, restaurants and scenic areas. It wasdifficult to book the restaurant desk for family gathering for Chinese NewYear. The hotel occupancy rate reached 83.6%.
