Jingzhou to achieve crayfish output of 400,000t+ this year, accounting for 30% of China's total crayfish output

Accordingto a source from the Jingzhou Municipal Bureau of Aquatic Products on March 4,with the goal of "improving quality and efficiency, increasing income,green development and enriching fishermen", in 2019, Jingzhou willconstantly improve the ecological environment and management efficiency offisheries, stabilize its aquaculture area at 1.97 million mu and its aquaticproduct output at 1.1 million tons, increase its crayfish-rice culture area andrice-fish culture area to 2.65 million mu, and achieve a crayfish output ofmore than 400,000 tons, accounting for 30 percent of China's total output.

Thisyear the municipal department of aquatic products will continue to developgreen healthy culture, renovate and upgrade ponds, improve the productionenvironment of fishing areas, advance the experiment and demonstration of pondtail water treatment, develop clean culture, advance healthy culture, createhealthy aquaculture counties and healthy culture demonstration farms designatedby the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, explore the model oflarge-surface fishery production management, promote the coordinateddevelopment of the environmental protection, development and utilization ofwaters, focus on the operation and management of two public brands:"Jingzhou Fish Cake" and "Jingzhou Crayfish", enhance theirpopularity and influence, support Minhong, New Hongye, Lixiaolong, Haoweiyuanand other enterprises in brand building, scheme and host Jingzhou Fish CakeFestival, Jingzhou Crayfish Festival, Honghu River Crab Festival and otherfestivals, and organize enterprises to participate in Agricultural Trade Fair,China Fisheries & Seafood Expo and other exhibitions, to expand theirinfluence.

Besides,Jingzhou will strengthen the quality and safety supervision of aquaticproducts, vigorously conduct investment promotion, introduce competitive andinfluential social capital to the aquatic product processing industry, enhance thevitality of Jingzhou's aquatic product processing industry, strengthen thecultivation of local processing enterprises, and promote the development of localkey leading enterprises with large scale, good benefits and strong drivingforces through measures such as policy support, stock cooperation and brandintegration.

Jingzhouregistered a crayfish culture area of 2.7 million mu and a crayfish output of 290,000tons in 2017, accounting for 47 percent of Hubei's crayfish output and 26percent of China's total crayfish output respectively.
