Key project tracking: Fuxing Boulevard enters stage of bridge superstructure construction

AsJingzhou's first PPP project and a project with the largest governmentinvestment, the construction of Fuxing Boulevard has drawn great attention fromcitizens since its commencement. Now the project has fully entered the stage ofbridge superstructure construction and subgrade earthwork construction.

Onthe construction site of the fourth segment of Fuxing Boulevard, constructorswere working on utility tunnel waterproofing, with main structure constructionand earth excavation going on simultaneously. This is Jingzhou's first utility tunnel.

Onthe construction site of the fourth segment in Hongmen Road, constructors wereworking on elevated bridge box girder construction. 50 percent of the bridgeworks has been completed. With a full length of 5.68 kilometers and fourelevated bridges, the segment starts in State Highway 318 and ends in SanwanRoad.

Onthe construction site of Jinbei elevated bridge in the second segment of theproject in Chuyuan Boulevard, Jingzhou District, constructors were erectingsupport for the 28th unit of the box girder. With a full length of 3.24kilometers and 31 units, Jingbei elevated bridge starts in Desheng Street andends in Jingzhou High School. The bridge broke ground last November. To date 70percent of the pile foundation works, 65 percent of the pile cap works and 65percent of the pier stud works have been completed.

Witha total investment of 8.56 billion yuan and a full length of 23.9 kilometers,located in the north of downtown Jingzhou, Fuxing Boulevard joins YingbinBoulevard on the west and Jingzhou Airport, Cenhe Town, Shashi District on theeast. The utility tunnel measures 14.69 kilometers. To date 79 percent of thepile foundation works, 73 percent of the pile cap works, 49 percent of the pierstud works and 11 percent of the box girder works have been completed.

Witha designed main line speed of 80km/h, a designed auxiliary lane speed of 40km/hand a red line width of 60-70 meters, Fuxing Boulevard will be designed as atwo-way eight-lane road. Pedestrian overpasses, channels and culverts will beset up as needed; viaducts, overpasses and flyovers will be set up in importantnodes. The boulevard will be connected to north-south urban trunk roads throughramps, to facilitate barrier-free accessibility.
