As the new urban area of Jingzhou City and the core bearing area of thewestward and northward expansion, Jingbei New District has accelerated the roadnetwork construction in the past years with a transportation pattern of “fiveverticals and five horizontals”, which is expected to be completed by the endof 2019 to provide powerful support for the high-quality development in JingbeiNew District.  

With roaring machines, the workers were busy on the construction site ofChudu Avenue in Jingbei New District. They were laying the steel mesh for thebridge and pouring the cement for the sidewalk anti-collision beams on theChudu Avenue.

Chudu Avenue starts from Jingsha Avenue in the south and the section inJingbei New District reaches the Shanghai-Chengdu High-speed Railway in thenorth. The total length is 1.7 kilometers with two-way six lanes. As the lastmain road under construction in Jingbei New District, the Chudu Avenueintersects with Taihugang North Road, Jiangzhang Road, Fuxing Avenue, ChutianRoad and Fengming Avenue. 

According to Liu Biao, technical director of the Chudu Avenue ProjectDepartment, the Chudu Avenue is expected to open in October this year.

Jingbei New District is the core transportation hub of Jingzhou city. Forthe construction of new district, urban transportation support is veryfundamental. The road pattern of “five verticals and five horizontals” has beenplanned to build 36 kilometers of road network to connect five bridges alongthe Taihu Harbor water system. The main roads of the “three verticals and threehorizontals” include: Zhuangwang Avenue, Liujiatai Road and Chudu Avenue as thethree verticals; Fengming Avenue, Fuxing Avenue and Taihugang North Road as thethree horizontals. Zhuangwang Avenue and Chudu Avenue are designed as two-way 6lanes and other roads are two-way four lanes.

According to Li Xiubang, chief engineer of Jingzhou Chutian Real EstateCo., Ltd., the projects which have been completed now include station square,Zhuangwang Avenue and Chuyuan Avenue. The projects which have beenpreliminarily completed include Juxian Road, Liujiatai Road and Dongqiao Roadas well as the bridges on Zhuangwang Avenue and Liujiatai Road. The projects of“five horizontals” which have been completed with traffic capability includeFengming Avenue, Chutian Road, Chuyuan Avenue, Jiangzhang Road and TaihugangNorth Road. 

Up to now, the completed roads in the wholeJingbei New District have accounted for more than 90% of the total roadengineering with initial shape of road network pattern. It is expected that theroad network construction in Jingbei New District will be preliminarilycompleted by the end of 2019. Then next, the supporting infrastructureconstructions such as parks, water systems and landscape will also beimplemented in Jingbei New District.
