On the afternoon of April 8th, the 2019 Jingzhou “Bird Protection Week”was held in Guangongyi Park, which was hosted by Jingzhou Natural Resources andPlanning Bureau and Jingzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League,organized by the administration bureau of Hubei Jingzhou Ancient City NationalWetland Park with the theme "Focus on Migratory Birds and MaintainCommunity of Life." 

Xiang Bin, the vice mayor, attended and declared the launching of theactivity. 

Never kill the birds in spring because the babies in the nest are waitingfor the mother to return. The Chinese nation is well-known for the goodtradition of birds loving and protection. Since 1983, the People's Governmentof Hubei Province has determined that the first week of April as the “BirdProtection Week”, Jingzhou city always holds various activities every year. Frompopular science to protective measure, from traditional media to networkplatforms, from scattered activities to regulation establishment, theactivities are continuously innovated to comprehensively raise the public awarenessof bird protection.

This year is vital for us to create a state-level forest city and theJingzhou Ancient City National Wetland Park to be accepted as the nationalpilot engineering. Yang Can, who works in the administration bureau of JingzhouAncient City National Wetland Park said they would enter residentialcommunities, schools, enterprises and state agencies to substantially implementthe promotion of birds protection. 

At the launching ceremony that day, the representatives of collegestudents issued an initiative to love birds and protect birds in the wholesociety. Nearly 400 people from all walks of life including the prosecutorial system,Jingzhou Tourism Group, universities and communities attended the activity. 

According to incomplete statistics, about 301 species of birds are foundin our city, accounting for 68% of a total of 456 species in the province,including four kinds of birds with first-class protection such as whitepheasant, black pheasant, Chinese merganser and white-tailed eagle, 16 kinds ofbirds with second-class protection. With the improvement of ecologicalenvironment, the number of migratory birds flying to Jingzhou for the winterkeeps increasing year by year.
