Buildingby water and rising for water, JingzhouCoal Railway-Waterway Transportation, Storage & Distribution Basehas been included in the national planning and the provincial strategy and key project of acceleration ofHubei. It is now under construction for the purpose of building “energycarrier” and inland “Qinhuangdao”.
Locatedin Majiazhai Village, Jiangling County and at the intersection of Menghua Railway and YangtzeRiver, Jingzhou Coal Railway-Waterway Transportation, Storage &Distribution Base boasts good conditions for navigation and transport. Aftercompletion of berths, the bridge-type grab ship unloaders and rail-type shiploaders will be installed, and the ancillary works like container yards on landand special railway lines will be equipped.
For the container yards on land, the total investment isRMB 1.344 billion, of which RMB 137 million was invested in place; and the surfacecleaning and backfill were basically completed. It is expected to finish thepile foundation for SR5 and SR6 in May, 2019, achieve the conditions forinstalling stackers and reclaimers by the end of July, 2019 and complete theconditions for the operation of SR5 and SR6 in the end of 2019. Given theimpacts of flood season, in order to guarantee the success of consequent worksand project quality, the project is expected to be perfectly accomplished onSeptember 20, 2020.
Witha total investment of RMB 372 million, the special railway line startedconstruction on August 26, 2018 and is now under construction. Aftercompletion, the line will be connected with the storage & distribution baseand Menghua Railway, so as to give full play to the advantages of themultimodal transport for coal delivery to Hubei and surrounding areas, therebymaking up the coal deficiency in central China.
Thebase is being equipped with a signal building, train inspection & repairingstation, dormitory and canteen, of which the signal building has been capped.There are 23 bridges and culverts on the whole line, of which 12 are underconstruction, and a total investment of RMB 192 million has been completed.
MaLin, project manager of the Project Department of Jingzhou Coal Special RailwayProject, said that the area covers 23 bridges and culverts, of which Lanxinghe Door Frame Bridge andCargo Evacuation IntermediateBridge are the control works. A big investment has been made for the twoworks to guarantee the completion in advance.
JingzhouCoal Railway-Waterway Transport & Distribution Base, after completion, willbecome the largest coal transfer and trading platform in central China and anemergency coal supply platform of Hubei, with transport capacity to a quarterof that of Menghua Railway and coal transit amount of 50 million tons/year. Thebase will be equipped with four functions – logistics delivery, emergencystorage & distribution, coal processing and coal trading, in a bid tobecome an “inland Qinhuangdao” for Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi and other places incentral China. It is expected to effectively promote the construction of New Industrial Park of Coal Power Portin Jiangling County, drive the completion of relevant industrialprojects and provide necessary support to reach the provincial strategictargets.
