Since commencing on October 8, 2018, Jingzhou civilairport project with a total investment of 1.3 billion yuan has drawn wideattention from citizens. Currently the runway in the movement area and terminalconstruction of the airport, as well as their auxiliary works are under way.The whole project is expected to be completed in 2020.
On the construction site of theairport, large machinery and equipment was shuttling back and forth doing earthworksin the movement area, and 38 percent of the total engineering quantity has beencompleted. The runway in the movement area has a full length of 2,600 meters. Allthe foundation treatment works of the movement area, 200,000 cubic meters of thedesilting works and 98 percent of the earthworks have been completed, showing thatthe project is drawing to an end.
The terminal construction of theairport and its auxiliary works include 18 individual works such as terminal, airtraffic control building and tower, fire rescue station, airport square andworking area road. The terminal area is also under construction and 500,000cubic meters of earth filling have been completed. On the construction site ofthe terminal, two large pile drivers were working. The terminal has a total of336 piles and 287 piles have been driven into earth.
The main works of the project have four sections, including3 civil aviation sections (runway and auxiliary works, navigational lightingaid, ATC installation and weak current engineering), as well as 1 non-civilaviation section (terminal, single buildings and auxiliary works).
According to Li Haijun, DeputyDirector of the Jingzhou Rail-Air Coordination Office, airport construction isbeing advanced as scheduled. Apart from the air traffic control works and the weakcurrent works which have not been open for bid, the rest have been completed.At the next stage, they will work against time, conduct coordination andprovide considerate service to create favorable conditions for the constructor.
Located in Cenhe Town, ShashiDistrict, with a construction area of some 2,143 mu, a passenger throughput of1 million for 2030 and designed aircraft movement area grade of 4C, JingzhouCivil Airport involves the construction of a runway 2,600 meters long and 45meters wide, a vertical taxiway, 5 Type C parking bays, communicationfacilities, navigational facilities, meteorological facilities, fuelingfacilities, fire facilities and other auxiliary facilities. As a domestic civilfeeder airport, the airport will mainly serve Jingzhou, and radiate Jingmen,Qianjiang, Tianmen and other cities around.
Jingzhou Civil Airport is akey provincial project. According to the overall requirements of the provincialgovernment for construction coordination and networking, with focus on theconstruction requirements of "ensuring quality, progress, budget and safety",Jingzhou will go all out to advance airport construction and operation preparation,thus achieving the overall goal of delivering a fine, safe, clean and iconicproject.
