The opening the Garden Expo is drawing near, and theconstruction site of the expo looks different with each passing day. The mainpavilion has been designed based on the concept that “a phoenix looks towardthe sun.” By now, 90% of the construction work has been completed. A phoenix isholding its head high and flapping its wings, ready to fly.

Apart from conveying the idea of ecological civilization,this year’s expo will also serve as an important platform for passing the Jingchuculture. The history and essence of the culture will be displayed in the mainpavilion. According to the planning and design, the Chu Phoenix, a classictotem of Jingchu culture, will be displayed in the main pavilion in an artisticmanner. Seen from the aerial view of the construction site, the roof garden is justlocated at the body part of the Chu Phoenix.

If the exterior of the main pavilion reflects the look ofthe Chu culture, then its interior will show the core of the culture. Accordingto the layout design, a 6,857-sq.m.. Chu Culture Museum will be built insidethe pavilion. The pavilion will reproduce the 800-year prosperity of the stateof Chu in three exhibition halls, which will be named “Blazing a Trail”, “Creatingan Era of Prosperity” and “Carrying forward the Great Cause” respectively. Thebirth, development and expansion of the state and its brilliant culture will bepresented from political, economic, military, material and spiritualperspectives. At present, the exhibits in the main pavilion is being arranged inan orderly manner.

The main pavilion of the Garden Expo covers afloor area of about 16,000 sq.m., and it is divided into south and north areas.According to the design, the roof of the main pavilion is high in the north andlow in the south with a shape of a curve. It is considered the most complex andthe most difficult structure of the project, requiring the most engineeringspecialties. Currently, the installation of the aluminum plates and glass curtainwalls on the exterior facade is under way, and the refined decoration will becompleted soon. Fire-fighting facilities and power lines inside the pavilion isbeing installed. After the expo opens, visitors will see a vivid Chu Phoenixready to fly.
