[Focusing on Jingzhou Garden Expo] Shishou Exhibition Garden: Beautiful Mountains and Splendid Waters Ecological Shishou

As a landscape garden city surrounded bymountains and waters, Shishou boasts a long cultural history and abundantnatural resources. It has two nature reserves of white-flag dolphin and Pere David's deer, which hasbeen awarded the title of "Hometown of Chinese Pere David's Deer".Integratingthe multiple advantages of Shishou, the Shishou Exhibition Garden of JingzhouGarden Expo Park strives to show the Shishou backbone in the shape ofmountains, build homelandsfor dolphins and deer with enjoyable waters, narrate Shishou humanity andhistory, appreciate Shishou beautiful mountains and splendid waters to makeShishou ecological.

Located on the bank side of middle reaches ofthe Yangtze river, the geographical center of the two lakes plain (JianghanPlain and Dongting Lake Plain), and the southern end of the central axis of Hubeiprovince, Shishou is an important city in the Yangtze River Economic Zone.Regardinglandscape ecology as the theme the Shishou Exhibition Garden mostly wants toexpress, it endeavors to fully display the strong historical and culturalcharacteristics of Shishou, and also fully reflect the concept of green ecologyand beautiful landscape of Shishou through Pere David, finless porpoises, peachblossom forest and other representatives of Shishou.

Four sceneries are connected through a ringroad in Shishou Exhibition Garden, respectively referred to as the ComeStraight to the Point, the Home for Dolphins and Deer, High Mountains andFlowing Rivers, the Future of Shishou. Not only the whole exhibition garden issurrounded by water, but also the ground adopts the pavement of water ripple,giving people the feeling of treading on the water. The rockery landscape inthe entrance and another in the garden echoes each other at a distance, whichfully reflects the humanistic culture of Shishou Exhibition Garden. In the deepestpart of the exhibition garden, there are the sculptures of Boya (a famous musicmaster in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period) and ZiqiZhong (Boya’s bosom friend who appreciated the music played by Boya), tellingthe story of Meeting Bosom Friends in High Mountains and Flowing Waters. Thearea is surrounded by plank road in the air with steel and wood structure,providing visitors with a rest area.

The elements of finless porpoise and David'sdeer are widely used in the design of Shishou Exhibition Garden, David's deerrather than merely expressed in three different forms. The simulated David'sdeer sculpture and the finless porpoise sculpture can be seen everywhere in theexhibition garden. As one of the highlights of Shishou Exhibition garden, theappearance of the whole Home for Dolphins and Deer is shaped like finlessporpoise. Steel structure-glass combination technology is used to form amulti-faceted finless porpoise shape. Located on the edge of the lake where theglass and the lake form a sparkling scenery, the exhibition hall is connectedto the outside by a glass skywalk. The exhibition is mainly to protect the finlessporpoises, aiming to appeal to people to protect nature and awaken people'sawareness of ecological environment. Based on the interaction of touristsmostly, the exhibition hall includes VR simulation of David's deer livingscenes, games to protect finless porpoise, environmental electronic signatures,etc..

Shishou Exhibition Garden lays emphasis on thedisplay of Shishou’s representatives like David’s deer, finless porpoise, Boyaand Ziqi, and the Peach Blossom Mountain. By showing the importance andprotection of endangered species and excavating the Shishou humanistic cultureof High Mountains and Flowing Waters, it hopes to elicit the responsibility andmission of Shishou to protect nature and history, and to turn the exhibitiongarden into a garden with strong historical and cultural characteristics andgreen ecology, unfolding the charm of "a riverside city showing its landscape".
