Hubei Technical Seminar on High-qualityDevelopment of Rice took place in Shishou from September 1 to 3, with theparticipation of experts from Hubei, as well as its neighboring provinces andmunicipalities such as Hunan, Jiangxi and Anhui.

The seminar introduced the current situationand progress of Hubei's agricultural restructuring, showed the results ofprovince-city-county-town-village collaborative innovation represented byJingzhou Comprehensive Test Station of National Rice Industry TechnologySystem, and summarized Shishou's experience in duck & frog rice development.The attendees also visited Wucai Organic Duck & Frog Rice ProductionDemonstration Base and Ecological Experience Hall in Guomailing Village,Tuanshansi Town, Shishou.

According to Chen Hongzhou, President of theJingzhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Jingzhou has completed the researchand popularization of 12 technologies, including the early warning, preventionand control of rice diseases, insect pests and weeds, and formed the technicalregulations on the integrated culture of "shrimp-rice","shrimp-rice-loach" and "shrimp-crab-rice". The researchproject of "Integrated Innovation of Key Technology of Full-processMechanization of Rice in Jingzhou" spearheaded by Jingzhou won theJingzhou First Award for Science and Technology Progress; the project of"Integration and Application of High-yield and High-efficiency Cultivationof Mechanically-harvested Ratoon Rice" involving Jingzhou won the HubeiFirst Award for Science and Technology Progress; with 1 patent for inventionpassing the preliminary examination and 1 patent for invention accepted, Jingzhouhas selectively cultivated 4 new rice varieties. Jingzhou has made greatefforts to build the green high-efficiency rice industry, created 27 ratoonrice brands, passed 41 green certifications and produced 87.29 million tons of ratoon rice, thus making remarkablecontributions to the goal of building a city with a grain yield of 10 billionjin.
