Touring Garden Expo, Tasting Delicacies: 2019 Jingchu Food Festival opens

Jingzhou is abundant in fish and rice, Jingchu is well known in China fordelicacies. On September 28, 2019 Jingchu Food Festival, hosted by the JingzhouMunicipal People's Government, organized by the Jingzhou Municipal Bureau ofCommerce, the Jingzhou Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, theJingzhou Administration for Market Regulation, the Jingzhou Municipal Bureau ofCulture and Tourism and the Shashi District People's Government, opened at JingzhouOcean World in Shabei.

For thousands of years, Jingzhou's abundant natural products have providedinexhaustible sources for food creation, brilliant Chu culture and ThreeKingdoms culture have given more meaning to food, said Sun Yuqiu, Vice Mayor ofthe Jingzhou Municipal People's Government at the opening ceremony. Sherequired that Jingzhou should, through the festival, give play to the wisdom ofJingzhou's catering industry, tap Jingzhou's famous dishes and traditionalcuisine, fuel Jingzhou's tourism consumption, promote Jingzhou's delicacies,prosper Jingzhou's catering market and display Jingzhou's new bright image.

Then the organizing committee presented plaques to 10 time-honoredenterprises, 9 characteristic feast makers and 21 quality ingredient baseenterprises in Jingzhou, and presented awards to 20 "Jingzhou's FamousDishes in Hearts of Citizens" and 20 "Jingzhou's Famous Snacks inHearts of Citizens".

As an important session of the 2nd Hubei Province (Jingzhou) Garden Expo,the festival and the Garden Expo supplemented and echoed each other, to enablelocals and outsiders to shop and taste delicacies while touring the GardenExpo, and present impressive cultural and food landscape. The festival aims topromote the tourism development and consumption upgrading of Jingzhou, Jingchufood culture and the development of green culture, further intensify theR&D innovation and promotion of Jingzhou's Chu cuisine and food, build acity symbol of Chu cuisine, and promote the integrated development ofJingzhou's catering industry, culture and art, tourism and characteristic industries.

With the theme "Touring Garden Expo, Tasting Delicacies", thefestival brought together over 400 types of characteristic and quality, greenfood ingredients, agricultural products and cultural & creative productsfrom over 200 enterprises and merchants in Jingzhou, including time-honoredenterprises, characteristic food ingredient bases, cultural & creativetourism enterprises and catering enterprises, and set up special zones, servicestations and information desks. In support of the festival, the organizingcommittee organized an online selection of "Jingzhou's Famous Dishes inHearts of Citizens" and "Jingzhou's Famous Snacks in Hearts ofCitizens" early, and delivered field activities such as localcharacteristic feast demonstration organized by counties, cities and districts,and local characteristic snack fair.

Apart from plenty of local characteristic dishes and famous snacks, thereporter saw on the site a lot of famous and characteristic snacks from Tianjin,Chongqing, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan and other areas, as well as somedelicacies sweeping social media. The festival presented a grand feast ofJingchu delicacies and ethnic food culture.

The festival will run through the National Day golden week from September28 to October 7. By means such as bus and self driving, Jingzhou citizens andoutsiders can reach the site of the festival in Jingzhou Ocean World.
