Splendid Jingchu and Ecological Garden Expo: Continuing Up to Now, Thousand-Year Crafts Reproduce the Splendor of Jingchu

Intangible cultural heritage is an excellenttraditional culture passed down from generation to generation. In the JingchuCultural Experience Museum of Jingzhou Garden Expo Park, numerous brilliantprojects that are highly representative and with local characteristics havebeen displayed among the projects of intangible cultural heritage of JingzhouCity. Today, the reporters come to visit the Bronze and Brick Carving Hall toexperience the charm of Chu culture.

Upon walking into the exhibition hall, the touristswill be greeted by the vigorous and majestic relief " The Eight ImmortalsCrossing the Sea" hanging on the wall, the stone carving with Niao-Zhuan Charactersdisplayed on the counter and the rubbing work with phoenix patterns in Chustyle as its totem. The quaint atmosphere accompanied by leisurely music seemsto enable people to travel through the time and return to the Chu State athousand years ago.

In order to show the charm of Jingchu Culturein Garden Expo, the landscape courtyard, study room, tea table and teahouse incourtyard and other scenes set up in the exhibition hall center are enormouslyeye-catching. Once observing carefully, you can find that all of them are combinedand arranged by bronze, brick carving,pottery figurine and other antiquities in aningenious manner, forming a delightful contrast and making people completelyrelaxed and joyful.

Brick carving represents the ancient art ofcarving patterns like landscapes, flowers and figures on the black bricks,which has been widely adopted in ancient Chinese architecture. In theexhibition hall, techniques of flat carving and after-kiln carving (carving onthe finished bricks) is holistically used in the brick carving work The Phoenix Singing in the Sky of Chu State.Nine phoenixes with different mien and exquisite patterns are exhibited on the11 bricks, expressing mighty sense of beauty.

It’s understood that brick carving technique hasa fully complex production process as one intangible cultural heritage. Fromthe selection of bricks, polishing, to carving, it takes a dozen or socomplicated processes to complete, and each brick must have a temperature ofmore than 1,000 degrees during production in order to ensure a more stable andexquisitely decorated brick structure. This enables us to cannot help but signthat countless sweat of craftsmen has been condensed behind the brick carvingtechnique.

As one of the carriers of splendid ancientcivilization of Jingzhou, the bronze ware is famous for its ample and peculiarmodelling together with the exquisite and advanced casting technology, thusboasting an extremely high artistic value. In the exhibition hall, the bronzewares with the imprint of Chu culture are also present truly in front of us. Nomatter it is paperweight,writing-brush washer, inkstone or bronze flower ware, all express thesentence "Make the past serve the present "incisively and vividly

Theexpression of living is adopted to reflect the thick and heavy sense ofhistory. While pleasing both the eye and the mind of people, it strives for theinheritance of long-standing techniques of Chu State. It is understood thatover 200 works like bronzes, brick carvings and pottery figurines, terrines andrubbings have been exhibited in Bronze and Brick Carving Hall in Garden ExpoPark this time.
