The Theme Day of Jingzhou Showed the Charm of the Culture of the Chu State During the Garden Expo

On October 26, the “Theme Day of Jingzhou” event was heldat the 2nd Hubei Province (Jingzhou) Garden Expo, which advertised Jingzhouthrough interactive performances, folk music performances, traditional operaperformances, intangible cultural heritage shows and introductions to scenicspots.

During the event, visitors were mesmerized by the melodiousmusic and beautiful dance of the Chu State. The “Theme Day of Jingzhou” startedwith the song and dance “Greeting Guests with Chu Music”, followed by the song anddance “Chariots and Horses”, the dance “Ji Chu” and other artistic performanceswith the distinctive characteristics of the Chu State, bringing the audienceback to the Chu State thousands of years ago.

Thirteen unique artistic performances, includingintangible cultural heritage shows (“Counting Toads”, “Call My Love to Eat BakedWheaten Cakes” and “The Song for Building Embankments) and instrumentalperformances given by the folk orchestra gave visitors an opportunity toexperience the culture and customs of Jingzhou. The Q&A session and thepromotion of scenic spots gave tourists a better understanding of the city’s culturaltourism projects.

On the stage of the Jingzhou Garden, “Farewell My Concubine”,“Palace Sit-in”, “The Flooding of Jinshan Temple” and other Chinese operas wereperformed successively, which created a profound cultural atmosphere in the GardenExpo Park.

In addition, booths were set up to promote tourism projectswith the characteristics of the Chu State, such as the Ancient City of Jingzhou,the Chariots and Horses of the King of Chu and “Guan Gong’s World”, throughhanding out leaflets and answering questions on site. On the same day,provincial intangible cultural heritage inheritors also showed their skills,such as Jingzhou embroidery, Yingcheng pottery and egg carving, attracting attentionfrom many tourists. A Yangtze University graduate student from Ghana was deeplyfascinated by the intangible cultural heritage shows.
