On October 23, the CPPCC of Jingzhou Districtheld the monthly discussion and consultation activity about "rural folkculture protection and inheritance" at the field of Xinchang Village,Balingshan Town. The CPPCC members, heads of relevant units, folk cultureinheritors and local villagers are invited to participate in the discussion andconsultation, so as to joint efforts to promote the development of rural folkculture in Jingzhou district.

Wang Kefen, a villager in Xinchang Village,said the performances were original and wonderful! Huang Qingfang, provincialinheritor of Mashan folk song, said he loved Mashan folk song since childhood.For a long time, this folk song was in a spontaneous state, with loss of thesingers. Now the singers are older and more young people are needed to inheritit so as to continue to promote Mashan folk songs into the campuses, scenicspots and villages.

Atpresent, the team members have part-time jobs and make danceperformances at spare times to promote the development of the lion dance team.
At the lively activity, every family isespecially prosperous after the lotus-picking boat passes by it. Wang Yuanfeng,a 71-year-old inheritor of performances of lotus-picking boat and songs withbeating basin, believes that the folk culture faces the difficulty ofinheritance and development. Many young people in the countryside love playingmahjong, and the old are unable to make such performances. Intangible culturalheritages can not be lost, as long as someone wants to learn, she would do mybest to teach him. Though at the age of over 70, she should try her best tocarry forward these cultures.
Tips: combination of culture and tourism,folk culture should be integrated into new life and high technology
In the area in which ancient state of Chu, theculture of Chu should be inherited. However, are the 800-year-old folk customsare as popular as the foreign culture? Ji Yanni, Secretary of the districtcultural center, said that, in rich areas, a lot of folk customs has lost, suchas autumn harvest celebration and sacrificial ceremony at the Spring Equinox.The countryside is losing its function of public culture, with the lack ofyoung inheritors at rural areas, and slow creative development of folk culturalperformance projects. Jingzhou district is in urgent need of strengthening theexcavation, collection and sorting of village culture. According to differentthemes, temple fairs or market fairs are held to organically integrate withrural tourism, so that rural people can find a sense of home and identitythrough folk culture.
