On the morning of November 2, the JingzhouMunicipal People's Government and Central China Normal University (CCNU)reached a strategic cooperation agreement. Under the agreement, the two sideswill deepen cooperation in fields such as basic education, new countrysideconstruction and ecological agriculture, to jointly open a new page forcity-university cooperation.
Zhao Lingyun, President of CCNU and HeGuangzhong, Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee attended andaddressed the signing ceremony. On behalf of the Jingzhou Municipal People'sGovernment, Cui Yonghui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou MunicipalCommittee and Mayor of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government, signed theagreement with CCNU. Present were Cai Hongsheng, Vice President of CCNU; ZhuYehong, Party Secretary of Yangtze University; as well as Jingzhou's municipalleaders including Duan Changlin and Sun Yuqiu.
In the new historical period, Jingzhou hasreached a new level in economic and social development as one of thefastest-growing cities (prefectures) in Hubei, said Zhao. General Secretary XiJinping called for efforts to take root in China to run universities. CCNU mustnot “slack off” in university-government cooperation. During the process ofcooperation deepening in the future, based on its leading disciplines such asbasic education, pesticide science and political science, CCNU will integratethe superior resources of its other disciplines, go all out to serve thedevelopment of Jingzhou's basic education, new countryside construction,ecological agriculture and other undertakings, and work with Jingzhou to buildresearch finding transformation, cadre training and teacher training bases, in ajoint bid to build a model for university-government cooperation.
He thanked CCNU for its long-term strongsupport to Jingzhou's development. Jingzhou is a historical city designated asone of the nine prefectures in ancient times; Jingzhou is a cultural city, withChu culture, Three Kingdoms culture, water culture, farming culture and redculture bringing out the best in each other; Jingzhou is an educational cityknown as a "city of prime ministers", with 138 prime ministers comingfrom ancient times, said he. Now Jingzhou is in a critical period oftransformation, overtaking and accelerated rejuvenation. He hoped that the twosides would jointly build a mobile classroom for research and teaching and ademonstrative base for research finding transformation, and deepen cooperationin advantage complementation, in a joint bid to open a new page forcity-university cooperation.
Heads of relevant departments directly under theJingzhou Municipal People's Government, Jinan Eco-culture Tourism Zone andJingzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone, as well as CCNU's alumnirepresentatives in Jingzhou attended the signing ceremony.
