Ever since the construction of Jingzhou Airport was kickstarted, citizenshave been eagerly looking forward to its completion and the subsequentoperations. So how is the current progress?

On the morning of November 8, in front of the Terminal, workers put inplace the 30-meter truss weighing around 8 tons. As the truss was lifted andfixed by the crane, it means that the construction of the Terminal was enteringinto a new phase. 

With an investment of RMB 241 million, the Terminal covers a floor area of13,800 square meters, divided into two floors. According to the designrequirements, the Terminal will be a spatial architecture made up of 370 main truss andsecondary truss connections, supporting a metal roofing system as longas 220 meters and as wide as 93 meters. Resembling a lotus in water and aphoenix spreading the wings to fly, it fully illustrates the design philosophyof “Lotus Blossoms in a Prosperous Age, Phoenix Flies Above Chu Land.”

Aside from the Terminal, the control tower and office building among otherancillary buildings have been roofed. Workers are speeding up the constructionwhile the weather is clear. Moreover, the 2,600-meter runway has seen thecompletion of the foundation and will witness the building of the structurallayer. As thick as 90 centimeters, the structural layer is filled with thestabilized layer, gravel layer and cement layer. 

According to a person in charge, ever since the “100-day mission” waslaunched in July, the construction of Jingzhou Airport has seen a “faster pace”.Currently, the Terminal has taken shape, single projects have been roofed andthe aircraft movement area has seen channels finished. 

Locating itself at Cenhe Village, Shashi District, Jingzhou Airport coversan area of around 2,143 mu, built to cater for code 4C aircraft. A new runway,2,600 meters long and 45 meters wide, a taxiway and 5 landing areas forcategory C airport will meet the expectations of handling visitors by 1 millionperson-times till 2030. Centering around Jingzhou, the airport will also serveJingmen, Qianjiang, Tianmen and other cities.
