The 6th Hubei Eco-Cultural Forum took place in Jingzhoufrom November 19 to 20, with the theme "Forest City and Great Protectionof the Yangtze River". Li Bing, Deputy Secretary of the Party LeadershipGroup and Executive Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee; LiuXinchi, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director General of theHubei Provincial Forestry Bureau; and Cui Yonghui, Deputy Secretary of the CPCJingzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of the Jingzhou Municipal People'sGovernment attended the forum.
Li announced the opening of the 6th Hubei Eco-Cultural Forum. He noted thatthe forum had given full play to its role in enlightening people and poolingwisdom with the main purpose of implementing Xi Jinping's thought on eco-civilization,as well as the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee andthe CPC Hubei Provincial Committee. The forum built an exchange, disseminationand cooperation platform for domestic experts, scholars, people with loftyideals and forestry workers devoted to eco-civilization construction, andcontributed new wisdom and power to Hubei's eco-civilization construction, thegreat protection of the Yangtze River and forest city construction. He hopedthat all would jointly advance the high-quality development of Hubei, buildforest cities, protect the Yangtze River and promote green development, to makegreen the most beautiful base color of cities and sound the "loudestvoice" of Hubei for the great protection of the Yangtze River.
Cui said in his address that the forum thatbrought a lot of new viewpoints, ideas and technologies to Jingzhou would createmore space and opportunities for Jingzhou's eco-civilization construction.Jingzhou will absorb brilliant ideas, take cultivating ecological advantage andstimulating ecological potential as the main direction of high-quality development,and vie to be a new force in the high-quality development of the Yangtze RiverEconomic Belt and a pacesetter in the demonstration zone for the rejuvenationof Jianghan Plain.
At the forum, Niu Xinqiang, Academician of theChinese Academy of Engineering; Su Chunyu, Chief Engineer of the StateAdministration of Forestry and Grassland (SAFG); Wang Cheng, Director of theUrban Forest Research Center, SAFG and Chief Expert of the Expert Committee of"China Urban Forest Forum"; Zhou Peijiang, Vice Chairman of theResource Recycling Committee, China Society of Natural Resources and Professorof Wuhan University; Fang Wen, the representative of advanced areas in forestcity construction and the great protection of the Yangtze River and Vice Mayorof the Ma’anshan Municipal People's Government deliver the excellent speechesrespectively.
The plaque award ceremony was held at the forum.6 cities and counties were designated as "Hubei Forest Cities", 18towns as "Hubei Forest Towns" and 100 villages as "Hubei GreenVillages". Jingzhou's Jiangling County and Honghu City were designated as"Hubei Forest Cities", Qujiawan Town, Honghu as "Hubei ForestTown" and Dongli Village, Puji Town, Jiangling County as "Hubei GreenVillage".
Jiang Hong, Member of the Standing Committeeof the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of theJingzhou Municipal People's Government; Zhang Mingjun, Vice Chairman of theCPPCC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary General of the JingzhouMunicipal People's Government attended relevant activities. The attendees alsovisited Jingzhou Garden Expo Park, Hubei Jingzhou Ancient City National WetlandPark and the site of the green restoration of the waterfront of the Jingzhousection of the Yangtze River.
