The 8th Children’s Go Competition of Jingzhou Kicked off with More Than 700 Players Participating

On the morning of November 24, the “Ten MillionTalent Project” 2019 Hubei Province’s 34th Amateur Go Competition & the 8th“Hope Cup” Children’s Go Competition of Jingzhou kicked off at Beijing Road No.3 Primary School in Shashi District. Young Go players throughout the province competedat the event.

The competition started after a short openingceremony. Participants, divided into different groups, including the enlightenmentgroup, junior group, intermediate group, senior group and dan group, wererespectively engaged in multiple rounds of Go competition.During the competition, the young playersconcentrated on figuring out strategies, sparing no effort to overcome the opponent.

A Go competition is also a psychological contestbetween both players, not only testing their precise calculating capacity but alsotheir ability of controlling the game as a whole. The referee will count theblack and white Go pieces after each competition. The winner will score, andthen go to a higher level or a higher-ranked dan after obtaining enough scores.

Each group will award certificates and medals to topeight boys and top 6 girls.Allplayers in the enlightenment group will be awarded gold, silver or bronzemedals based on their scores.

The event was hosted by Hubei Province Go Associationand organized by the Jingzhou Go Association, Jingzhou Qingfeng Go Academy, and the Jingzhou YouthActivity Center in Shashi District. More than 700 players participated in theevent which aims to improve young players’ skills and cultivate excellent Goplayers.
