Progress can be made if role models are seen as a mirror; righteousness can be promoted if they are viewed as a banner. On January 16, sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and organized by Jingzhou Daily, the 2019 Q4 Role Models of Jingzhou Release Ceremony & Role Models of Jingzhou Persons of the Year Award Ceremony was held at the lecture hall of the New Venue of Jingzhou Library. Wu Chaoan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Head of the Propaganda Department, Yang Shunhao, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress, Vice Mayor Tang Wei and Hu Jinglin, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, were present at the event, and awarded the 2019 Role Models of Jingzhou Persons of the Year.

At the event, the 2019 Role Models of Jingzhou Persons of the Year were announced, and they included Guo Jingyun, a senior Party member who has volunteered to publicize the Yan'an spirit for 19 years, Xiao Dezhun, a veteran missile solider who has remained true to his original aspiration despite many contributions and honors, Lei Yuankun, a pioneer of rural grassroots culture, the couple of Chen Jingxu and Sun Hongyan, garbage collectors of the Yangtze River who have been devoted to safeguarding the cleanness of the river, the post-90s group in Jianli County, who saved a man who fell in a faint, and Wang Yunhai, a pioneer in oil and gas exploration equipment R&D. The Q4 Role Models of Jingzhou were also unveiled, and they were Guo Jingyun, Peng Ying, Lei Tibei, Liu Kexiang, Wei Chunyu and Qu Xiaohong.

The Role Models of Jingzhou are published each quarter, and composed of six lists, namely List of Heroes, List of Lei Feng, List of Pioneers, List of Filial Piety Stars, List of Integrity, and List of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. In 2019, a total of 37 individuals and groups were included in the quarterly lists of the Role Models of Jingzhou, from which six Persons of the Year were selected at the beginning of the New Year. It aimed to salute role models in the new era, further publicize their deeds and expand their social influence, and create better social conduct which advocates role models, good persons and kindness.
