Currently there is a special group. They are not facing a test of life and death as frontline medical workers are, but forging ahead and performing their duties at the critical moment. They are "Chinese militias".

They have not only stuck to the defensive line in the downtown, bustling areas and other densely-populated areas, but also reached out to remote rural areas and agricultural fields to ensure the full coverage of epidemic prevention and control in Jingzhou.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the Work Leading Group of the Jingzhou Military Sub-area on Epidemic Prevention and Control has worked around the clock, stayed in combat, gone all out for the fight against the epidemic, and mobilized all militias in the area to focus on the key tasks of epidemic prevention, block the source of infection and curb the spread of the epidemic while protecting themselves. Militias have been active in key roads, communities, villages and families in the area.

"Fellow villagers, it is the peak season of Covid-19, for your health and the health of others, please go back right away and protect yourselves."

Rural areas are seeing a peak season for friend and relative visits right now. Though roads have been closed down due to the epidemic, plenty of villagers still downplayed the epidemic and knew little about it. They believed that closing down roads is cutting off the source of infection and blocking the channel of spread. A few villagers even mistook the epidemic for a seasonal flu.

Seeing that, people's armed forces departments across Jingzhou have organized grass-roots cadres and backbone militias to inspect and set up checkpoints in rural roads, guard emergency channels and perform other duties every day, helped village groups and communities with epidemic control publicity, registered the information of migrant workers returning from Wuhan, reported suspected cases and put suspects under quarantine, and handed out posters and masks to village groups, communities and villagers, to contribute to containing the spread of the epidemic. By doing so, they have shown the deeds of militias, reassured the masses and gained wide praise from locals.
