Jingzhou, Taiwan fight epidemic together across Straits
Updated: 2020-02-24 09:56:00

Since the outbreak of Covid-19, Taiwan compatriots and enterprises have been concerned about Jingzhou, and joined the anti-epidemic fight by donating money and supplies in various ways at the earliest possible time.

"Make our modest contribution to Honghu by 1,000 protective suits, let's work together to overcome the hard times. Stay safe, China! Stay strong, Hubei! Stay strong, Wuhan! Stay strong, Jingzhou…" On February 20, a batch of supplies carrying the love of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits arrived in Honghu. A head of Hubei Huntide Biotech Co., Ltd. posted a WeChat moment telling his companions that the donated supplies have reached the frontline.

On February 23, 12,000 surgical masks arrived in China after flying across the South China Sea from Indonesia. These masks were donated by Xu Ruoting from Jiangling, Jingzhou and her husband Tsai Chang-rong from Taiwan. Despite having been in Taiwan for many years, she has been concerned about her hometown. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, she has collected supplies everywhere. After Taiwan authorities issued a ban on the export of surgical supplies to mainland China. The couple has searched for supplies abroad. It is the third time that they have donated money and supplies to mainland China lately.

We never thought there were such a group compatriots on the other side of the Straits. Previously during a visit to Songzi, Jingzhou in 2018, they were warmly received by local departments and felt the brotherhood between the two sides of the Straits. Now they are showing the great love of the Chinese nation when a disaster strikes. Members of the delegation visiting Songzi raised a sum of 237,800 yuan and remitted it to the Red Cross Society of China Songzi City.

"With compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits hand in hand and heart to heart, we are expected to beat the epidemic."Until now Jingzhou has received over 700,000 yuan in cash and supplies from Taiwan compatriots. They are supporting Jingzhou's epidemic prevention and control efforts by actual deeds.
