Fight epidemic together: Female volunteers busy serving community residents
Updated: 2020-03-09 10:01:00

Today is March 8, also known as International Women's Day. On the frontline of epidemic prevention and control there is a group of female workers who have given up time with their families to fight the epidemic on their posts. Today let's take a look at these volunteers in Wenxinglou Community, Shengli Sub-district, Shashi District.

In Wenxinglou Community, Shengli Sub-district, Shashi District, we saw Zhang Qian who was taking down residents' supplies needs. A pen, a mobile phone and several registration forms were all her equipment. As a member of the supplies group, she is responsible for contacting supermarkets to supply.

Residents order living necessities such as meat, oil, rice and vegetable frequently every day, said Zhang. From 7 am to 5 pm, she needs to make 40 or 50 calls at least. Upon receipt of supplies from supermarkets, she will contact other group members to hand out supplies to residents. When residents do not understand the shortage of supplies, she will explain.

36-year-old Zhang is a judge at the Jingzhou District People's Court of Jingzhou City. Since becoming a community volunteer, she has hardly taken a day off and missed her 5-year-old son looked after by parents most every day.

46-year-old Huang Qian at the Property Management Center of the Jingzhou Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau is as excellent as Zhang. She who manages over 60 households in 3 buildings in the community visits to take temperatures of residents, find out and take down their needs.

Huang has stayed by from 9 am to 11 pm and never slacked off. Seeing she was so busy, her 19-year-old daughter who had just been admitted by a university offered to help. Huang was proud of her daughter.

There are over 4,000 households in Wenxinglou Community. As most buildings are old, it is difficult to manage the community. There are over 100 female volunteers like Zhang and Huang. These "women soldiers" have stayed in solidarity with strong will and taken the heavy responsibility with weak shoulders.
