Updated: 2020-03-12 10:40:00

During China's Lunar New Year, Feng Gangyao, a teacher at Hubei Jingzhou Sports School, visited her family in Shenzhen, but got stuck by the sudden Covid-19 outbreak. During her stay in Shenzhen, she applied to the community four times for joining the battle against the epidemic and eventually moved the community. Now she has become one of the anti-epidemic Party member pioneers in Xiangmi Community, Futian District.

The one who was taking residents' temperature is exactly Feng. Soon after the outbreak of Covid-19, she stuck in Shenzhen got an order at the earliest possible time from the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government to join the nearest community's epidemic prevention efforts. Learning that her colleagues had checked in at communities and got down to work, she who used to rush out to the front was burning with anxiety. At the news that Shenzhen had sent a medical team to the aid of Hubei, she decided to join the nearest community for epidemic prevention and control in return for Shenzhen's aid to her hometown.

During 14 days of stay-at-home quarantine, Feng applied to the Party Secretary of Xiangmi Community for joining the community's epidemic prevention and control as a Party member volunteer, but was declined with thanks.

Feng who was persistent applied to the community where she temporarily stayed four times. On February 15, her application was finally approved by the community after she passed a throat swab test at the end of the quarantine period.

"I was so excited when I was told to check in at the community the next day that I bounced up from the sofa," said Feng.

Feng was a bit worried at first and dare not say she was from Hubei. But as time went by, she who helped to take temperatures, deliver supplies and take meals has become a good helper. "Turn to this girl from Hubei if you have any difficulty!" said her colleagues and residents.

"As a Party member, I feel honored and proud to do something concrete for Shenzhen and fight the epidemic together with the community's Party members," said Feng, adding, "I can contribute to my hometown in Shenzhen, too."
