Updated: 2020-03-20 08:48:00

The special report-Features of Members of Hainan Medical Team Aiding Hubei will take you to visit Li Na, a post-80 female doctor and the head of the first critically ill patient treatment group of the first Hubei-aiding medical team from Hainan. After learning that Hainan will send a medical team to the aid of Hubei on January 26, she with outstanding medical skills immediately applied for joining the team.

Upon the team's arrival in Jingzhou on January 28, she offered to work at the People's Hospital of Honghu (PHH) where there were the most critically ill patients. The Department of Infectious Diseases, PHH still had problems such as substandard infection control and drug and equipment shortage after admitting critically ill Covid-19 patients. The team felt under heavy pressure upon its arrival.

Honghu neighbors Wuhan hit hard by the epidemic. According to Honghu's statistics, over 50,000 Honghu people have returned from Wuhan around the Lunar New Year, showing a high risk of epidemic prevention and control.

Based on her years of experience, Li led team members in solving problems with the support of the local hospital. Members of the first medical team from Hainan worked up to 9 hours in the quarantine zone without eating and drinking, and almost collapsed after coming out. As a doctor and the head, Li spent a lot of time on ward-round, medical advice writing and group consultation, and slept only 4 or 5 hours a day.

For lack of protective supplies, Li think hard and led members in making protective supplies. Like many post-80s, she rushed ahead, shouldered heavy responsibility, led team members in getting out of trouble. Having fighting the epidemic on the frontline upon her arrival in Hubei, she was nicknamed "an iron lady" in the fight against the epidemic.

After finishing her work at PHH, Li and her team members moved to the Fourth People's Hospital of Honghu (FPHH) to continue their mission, and assisted locals in grass-roots epidemic prevention and control. Medical workers' unremitting efforts paid off with the dawn of victory. All Covid-19 patients at FPHH taken over by the medical team from Hainan have been discharged from FPHH.
