China's rape production is famous in Hubei, while that in Hubei is well-known in Jingzhou. The rape production in Jingzhou always holds a decisive position nationwide. In the past few years, the city has promoted the rape development in the whole industry chain and multifunctional application through an efficient technology model, enabling the rape industry to transform to high-quality development.

In March of the golden season, rape flowers of more than 2,000 mu in Yongxingqiao Village, Chengji Town, Jianli County are blossoming in spring breeze. Rape flowers are now at the in-bloom stage, a critical period for their later stage growth. In spring, when the weather is rainy with high humidity and temperature, it's easy to cause diseases such as rape sclerotinia stem rot. To ensure both the epidemic prevention and control and agricultural production, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) team from the Jincaomao Professional Cooperative of Agricultural Planting in Jianli County, started to conduct the aerial pesticide application operation for rape with UAVs in the morning.

Since 2017, Jingzhou has actively explored multiple purposes of rape, vigorously promoted the “345” efficient technology model, namely per mu cost of 300 yuan, per mu production of 400 jin and per mu net profit of 500 yuan. Thanks to the application of this model, farmers have been highly motivated, increasing the rape planting area in Yongxingqiao Village from more than 1,000 mu in the past to 2,000 mu now.

To increase the economic benefit of rape planting, a superior and efficient model is the foundation. In order to maximize the benefit, it is imperative to advance the development of rape in the whole industry chain and multifunctional application. The Jincaomao Professional Cooperative of Agricultural Planting in Jianli County, through the whole-process mechanization, engages in the custodial service of agricultural production, and has built a rape standardization base of 15,000 mu. In partnership with the Oil Crops Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the cooperative has built a functional rapeseed oil processing demonstration base with the daily processing capacity of 100,000 tons, aiming to create a completed green industry chain from fields to tongue tips, and increase the per mu benefit of rape.

Jingzhou is a national double-low rapeseed production base, and its double-low rapeseed boasts high nutritional value, which is only second to olive oil among bulk edible oils. By improving oil processing technology, Jingzhou has established double-low rapeseed brands, and developed high-end healthy rapeseed products, enjoying broad prospects.

At the scientific research base of Jingzhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences in the Jingzhou Development Zone, the journalist saw rape flowers in milk white, deep yellow, orange and red violet, which are colorful rape flowers being cultivated by the Academy.

It is introduced that different flower color varieties will be promoted in tourist attractions across the city through cooperation after successful breeding, and become the new generation of rape flower sea tourist products. Thanks to the rural revitalization policy, through improved policy support, technical support and industry services, rape flowers will increasingly showcase its value, and the development of this industry is booming.
