Overview of Jingzhou, a book with a scent of ink, has recently been published. The book is part of "Series of Hubei Overviews" compiled by the former Office of Hubei Chronicles under the organization of the Jingzhou Chronicle Research Center (JCRC), and published by Changjang Press in September 2019.

Based on Jingzhou's years of chronicles, almanacs and local conditions, Overview of Jingzhou taps Jingzhou's general graphic information and rich characteristic information, emphasizes characteristic information, and systematically displays Jingzhou's unique look and cultural charm. It is a time-efficient, concise and practical encyclopedic portable reference book.

The book has 13 chapters and over 160,000 words. The Chapter of Water Conservancy Facilities is a highlight of the book. As Jingzhou is in the hinterland of Jianghan Plain in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, the river runs across 8 counties, cities and districts of Jingzhou. Jingzhou is dotted with lakes and reservoirs, and crisscrossed by rivers and canals. Jingzhou people, born with water, have fought floods hard in the long term, gradually established four hydraulic engineering systems (flood prevention, drainage, irrigation and water transfer), and improved its ability to resist floods, droughts and other disasters, to lay a solid material foundation for a peaceful life of Jingzhou people, as well as the social and economic development of Jingzhou. Another highlight of the book is Chapter of Cultural Heritage and Attractions with text and 16 pictures. The chapter narrates Jingzhou's ancient ruins, city sites, buildings and tombs, revolutionary sites, monuments, places of interest and cultural relic collections.
