Jingzhou city has successfully built aconsumer poverty alleviation e-commerce platform and put it into operation inDecember 2019. It’s learned from the Jingzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau thatsince the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, this platform has benefited morethan 3,000 farmers, including 800 in poverty. The platform has collaboratedwith more than 10 local cooperatives to together promote over 1,000 tons oflocal agricultural products that remained unsold.
Relying on this platform, urban residentscan buy fresh vegetables at home. A principal from the Jingzhou MunicipalCommerce Bureau said that this platform has also helped many farmerssuccessfully sell overstocked agricultural products. Amid the pandemic, thise-commerce platform has helped farmers in Jiangling County sell 350 tons ofoverstocked vegetables, such as celery, cabbage and cauliflower. Having learnedthat 8,000 bundles of sugarcane remained unsold in Yanzha Village, Haoxue Town,Jiangling County, this e-commerce platform actively contacted farmers, andworked with the Haoxue Large Market and Yongdexin Supermarket to purchase allof the overstocked sugarcane.
