On April 21,it’s learned from the Jingzhou Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planningthat the city's afforestation task this year has made great progress with highquality. By April 20, Jingzhou has completed the afforestation of 243,000 muacross the city, representing 81% of the annual target of 300,000 mu, theafforestation of 132,800 mu along both sides of the Yangtze River, representing211% of the annual target and the targeted wilderness elimination of 1,022 mu,representing 84.6% of the annual target.

Since thisyear, all regions of the city has carefully implemented the afforestation workdeployed by the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Jingzhou MunicipalGovernment, and actively pushed forward the afforestation work in spring amidthe COVID-19 pandemic through scientific planning and considerate arrangements,aiming to advance the construction of a provincial forest city, forest townsand green demonstration villages, which has aroused an upsurge in afforestationin spring. So far, Jingzhou District, Gongan County, Shishou City and HonghuCity have all fulfilled their annual targets for afforestation, while ShashiDistrict, Gongan County and Jianli County have overfulfilled their annualtargets for afforestation along the both sides of the Yangtze River. Besides,the green corridor construction in the central urban area of Shashi districthas made great progress with high quality. The afforestation work across thecity has achieved obvious results.

“Afforestationshould make sure trees are planted and survive,” said a principal from theJingzhou Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning. The principalintroduced that Jingzhou city will emphasize on both planting and management,and achieve high-standard afforestation. While strengthening afforestation, thecity will strictly control key links, such as tree variety selection, seedlingspecification and on-site management and care, further optimize the match oftree varieties, enhance the greening design and planning in key regions, adjustand renew planting models, and carry out afforestation that suits localconditions. Meanwhile, all regions will improve their long-acting mechanisms onmanagement and care, implement the responsible subjects of afforestation,specify afforestation deadlines, go all out to win the afforestation battle,and maintain the achievements in afforestation through hierarchical, classifiedand phased implementation.
