As Work and Production Resume in Jingzhou, Can Hotels Recover?

Amid the epidemic, many hotels in theurban area of Jingzhou have started to officially resume business since March.By April 13, the wholesale and retail lodging and catering industry haswitnessed a work resumption rate of 100% in the city. And that for enterprisesabove designated size has amounted to 100%. 59 large hotels across the centralurban area have all resumed work and production, according to the JingzhouMunicipal Commerce Bureau.

Disinfectionand All Other Links Cannot Be Missed

On May 6, at the entrance of WyndhamJingzhou, a hotel owned by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the reporter sawsecurity guards politely reminding guests of going through the whole process -showing their green health codes, taking temperature, registering informationand disinfecting hands. After walking in a dedicated passage, guests weredetected again by an infrared thermometer sensor at the hotel lobby. Throughthe confirmation of body temperature, they either attended meetings upstairs orchecked in at the reception under the guidance of the staff.

As long as anti-epidemic measures arein place, guests can feel relived! Manager Xiong from the housekeepingdepartment said: “Each day, after arriving at the hotel, employees will taketemperature and disinfect hands. Uniforms will be put in a sterilizationinstrument for two hours each day to ensure sterilization. Cleaning cloths mustbe soaked in disinfectant and then dried before using. In public areas, windowswill be opened, and all passages will be disinfected twice a day. Elevatorbuttons will be covered with plastic wraps with daily exchange, and disinfectedfour times a day. Besides, the hotel also offers thermometers, masks andalcohol cotton balls for long-stay guests. After guests check out, the roomsmust be sealed for 24 hours and thoroughly disinfected before cleaning.”

All employeesof the hotel have come back to work, but managers and employees rotate daysoff, which means taking two more days off than before. Hotel Manager ZhuYingying noted that the occupancy rate of the hotel is about 20% at present,but is expected to reach the same level in the previous years during theNational Day holiday in the second half of this year through a series offavorable measures, such as special offer catering and rooms.

Eating withOne Set Meal in One Seat per Table

On May 8, at the Qube Hotel Jingzhou,guests were mainly recommended with the buffet, and must follow many diningrules. Guests who have taken temperature must be detected and disinfected againbefore entering the dining hall. While eating, guests must strictly abide bystandards. They must keep distance of more than 1.5 meters, eat with one setmeal in one seat per table, and wear a mask while taking meals.

The catering industry, as anembodiment of city life, supports economic growth. Recently, leaders at county,city and district levels in Jingzhou have spearheaded consumption atrestaurants as ordinary citizens, and supported the work and business resumptionof catering enterprises in an safe and orderly manner with practical actions.This would boost the consumer confidence of citizens, and get the cateringindustry back on track as soon as possible.

Confidence!The Consumer Market Is Gradually Recovering

While conducting epidemic containment,both restaurants and large commercial complexes have launched various promotionactivities to attract citizens and tourists. Mr. Zhao from a local restaurantsaid: “During the May Day holiday, the number of diners has significantlyincreased, accounting for two thirds of the customer flow at the end of lastyear, which has made us confident about catering operations.

“The consumer market is graduallypicking up,” said Yuan Wei, head of commerce and trade section from thecommerce bureau of Shashi district. “Due to adequate preparations bysupermarkets and shopping malls in the early stage, various promotionactivities, such as lowering profits, offering discounts and selling withgifts, have stimulated consumers’ desire to buy. Besides, as major goods,particularly key daily necessities, see sufficient supplies, abundantcategories, superior quality and steady prices, the consumer market atsupermarkets and shopping malls is steadily growing.
