On April 23, the Jingzhou PublicHealth Center officially broke ground and began construction. After it iscompleted, the project will significantly improve the city’s public healthservice ability and admission capacity for patients with acute, dangerous andsevere diseases, and practically elevate its handling level of public healthemergencies. After almost a month, how is the construction of the Center going?
At the construction site, there is abusy scene everywhere, and a pile driver of more than 30 meters in height ispiling steel components into the ground. According to the requirements ofconstruction nodes, the construction of more than 3,000 pile foundations isexpected to be completed around June 5.
Looking down from the air, theconstruction site of the Jingzhou Public Health Center has greatly changed. Itused to be a fish pond, but has finished dredging and earthwork backfilling injust 20 days. It has now met the standard for piling and driving ofconstruction vehicles. However, in accordance with the normal constructionschedule, this job will take at least three months. In order to shorten theconstruction period, constructors only used one third of the scheduled time tocomplete the construction.
According to the design planning, theproject, with a total building area of 180,000 m² and a total investment of1.25 billion yuan, is expected to be delivered and put into use at the end ofthis year. As time is tight and the task is heavy, constructors from ChinaRailway Guangzhou Engineering Group Co., Ltd. work in three shifts to avoid thesuspension of machines at the construction site. The company has also increasedits investment in personnel and equipment. At rush hours, 1,000 workers haveoperated at the same time.
Liang Jianbo, Engineer-in-Chief ofthe project from China Railway Guangzhou Engineering Group Co., Ltd.,introduced that it will generally take three to four years to build a hospital,but this project needs to be completed in eight months. The construction periodis very tight, so the fabricated construction with the steel construction wasprioritized when designing.
It’s learned that the Jingzhou PublicHealth Center is a high-level modern general hospital, which is designed withthe concept of peacetime-wartime combination and constructed in accordance withthe scale of top tertiary hospitals. The project is divided into two phases,with each offering 1,000 beds. During the construction of Phase 1, 300 bedswill be constructed in accordance with infectious disease prevention andtreatment standards, while the other 700 beds are general beds, which can beconverted into standard infectious disease admission wards during epidemics.
