On May 19, it’s learned from theJingzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau that despite the COVID-19 epidemic, thesluggish foreign trade market brought some hope to people in Jingzhou city inthe first quarter of this year, as the city's foreign trade export presentedtwo highlights, and achieved double growths in adversity.

Jingzhou has seen double growths inits foreign trade export market in the January-March period: The export ofagricultural products, such as crayfish, poultry eggs and tea leafs, was on therise, which was valued at $9.58 million, up 8.1% year on year, showing that thecity’s superior agricultural products have obtained primary advantages; that ofprocessing trade significantly increased, which was valued at $40.23 million,up 23.2% year on year, as enterprises have considered the situation, conductedtransformation and upgrading, and taken many other measures to embrace broadprospects of the international market.

Data from the Jingzhou MunicipalCommerce Bureau indicated that by year-end 2019, a total of 25 enterprises haveexported agricultural products in Jingzhou, with varieties including poultryeggs, seed industry, pigs, aquatic products, tea leafs and fruits and productsmainly sold to North America, Europe, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, etc.

From late January to early March,blocked domestic logistics, the failure to ship out goods and the restrictionof imports by some countries have led to export restraints of Chineseenterprises and sharp declines in orders. The Jingzhou Municipal CommerceBureau has made every effort to help enterprises contact the transportdepartment to make logistics smooth; adopted the river-and-ocean combinedtransport model to help with the shipment of goods from these enterprises;specially approved the export of anti-epidemic supplies, such as masks andprotective suits, so as to further enhance the confidence of enterprises in theexport of foreign trade.
